Re: Crossing over, the 65 rebuild.

Yes, the vin shows it as a short bed ( step or fleet) but the splash guards give away the former stepper. I thought the muffler position was creative. I'm going through the crossmember soon, but leaving the splash guards.

HAHAHA!

Thanks for the cluster! I already have it apart and repainting the needles for the fuel and coolant temp. Should have it all installed tonight after work. Still installing the radiator in the 50 Burb. Should get them both done tonight!

Re: Crossing over, the 65 rebuild.

Ohhh, there's always something to do when your daily drivers are 63 and 48 years old!

I get a break tomorrow night. Our Dealer Owner is taking the orange truck to the Oregon State Beaver Football tailgate auction to represent his favorite team, so I get to drive the new 2014 heated steering wheel and seat truck home I'm not sure what I'm going to do in a new truck!

Re: Crossing over, the 65 rebuild.

For those of you on the fence whether or not to purchase an Aluminum radiator, they work great. Even temperature at all driving conditions ( I haven't towed with it yet during summer months ) but just driving around town or at freeway speeds it really works well.

Back to the 65

Hope everyone's Turkey weekend went well. We had family in town and didn't get a chance to do anything to the truck but drive them around running errands to the store, mall, dinners etc I really need one of those GoPro cameras stuck to the side of the truck to film all the burn outs. My favorite TV commercial was one for STP. "we make you reconsider the STOP sign and consider it the GO sign" for a fuel injector cleaner. The truck just loves the GO pedal at the GO signs hahaha!

Tonight I stayed and did some metal work and bead blasted an OG fan shroud. They look so cool, I wish I could chrome it! Really industrial and vintage looking, a refreshing change from all of the plastic fantastic cars I see on a daily basis. I did get to drive the 2014 StingRay today though....ok, I would own this plastic fantastic car!

Hahaha! I was in SanDiego for 4 days a couple weeks ago for a Funeral and didn't even get a double double. I have a c60 grille, some odds and ends and waiting for a couple buddies to get some chrome stuff together so I can make a run to Redding to the chrome shop down there. Ill keep ya posted and we can catch some much needed in and out.

Thanks T.J. a couple more holes welded up and a hundred more whacks and it will look sweet!

Possibly, I havnt used anyone down there but hear good things. We are frustrated up here with a couple shops. Medford plating is awesome but they only do nickle/chrome. I'm wanting 3 stage with the copper plating first to give it that gold luster. Portland has a shop but doesn't have an In and Out...so 3 more hours one way it is!

What shops there do you recommend?

Walkers Custom Chrome , they are spendy but you get what you pay for. They do a lot of show quality stuff.

LT1 Burb,

Klamath ? 16* ? Can't Sleep !

Try Camping outside in the spring and summer , Dam 'sketos will keep you busy all night !

So it sounds like the only sleep one can get is in the early fall . How ever do you do it, all sleep deprived most of the year ?

Re: Crossing over, the 65 rebuild.

I have 3 days of vacation left to take or loose before the end of the year, so with the NW meet up happening on the 15th, I took a couple days off next week to get the altitude adjustment, 4 wheel disc , spindles, bags center cross member shave , exhaust through crossmember etc done. Gonna start on Saturday, take Sunday off and hopefully finished on Tuesday night so I can drive it to work Wed. Wish me luck!

X2 !!! I'd take me a year to get that done. So far, though, you've made a lot of changes in a very short time so I don't doubt that you'll get it done.
