Truck looks great!

Makes the whole garage smell good, especially after coming in from a long drive!

Thanks for posting the part number Scott, Jason my headers worked great for my situation, they even fit good with my dropmember. The only mods I had to do is clearance the passenger side frame rail a little bit but that was when I had the factory crossmember and motor mounts. My headers are 3/4 length, if your looking for full length then look into Bowtie468's build thread. He is running hookers, not sure on the part number but they are Chevelle headers. Can't help you with your POL motor mounts though as I have no experience with them. There is also a thread on here for custom made full lengths that don't hang below the frame rails. I think the manufacturer is Clear Image. I'll try to find the thread for you.

Thanks Keith, the 3/4 length would be fine with me if they will work with my POL mounts. I'm not looking forward to changing them out because I had a heck of a time getting them in

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

Jason here is the other thread I was talking about with the custom made full lengths that tuck up in the frame rails. Kind of pricey though.

Thanks Keith, shows how much I pay attention, I even posted in thread #16. That's probably the route I'll try. Thanks for posting the info!

Chad, I will defiantly let you know how they work out. Don't know how soon I will order anything, I paid my buddies that helped on the paint work and all the supplies they used. Needless to say, my wife wasn't very happy when she found out how much PPG paint and clear cost.

Maybe a Playgirl selfie over the hood of that truck for a Mother's Day card? Outta the dog house and into the house!

probably should leave the truck out of the picture, it's kind of a sore subject right now. The positive to this story is : when I was looking to buy a truck a couple years ago we looked at this one and even though it was in pieces she liked it. So I can always say " You talked me in to it, I wanted to buy one that was finished "

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

Here's a shot of what I've got with the headers. Keep in mind that I live in WV and we don't have the smoothest roads. If I can find a set that will tuck in the frame then I shouldn't have any worries.

You talked me in to keeping it last year, Its Not Going Anywhere Now!!
The way I look at is, I don't do drugs, I don't buy season tickets to ball games, I don't go on expensive hunting trips, etc., etc. this is my hobby and I'll have something to show for it when I'm done. Not that any one thing is better than another, this is just what I like. You can go buy a new car or truck for $40-$50K and five years down the road it ain't worth crap. An old hot rod just goes up in value. Anyway I'm done venting.

Jason, if you give Travis @ Properformance he can assist you. He really knows a ton about parts that will work on your truck. I'm glad everything worked out and you were able to see your project through. You deserve to have a hot rod to cruise on your days off

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

Nothing new this week, have to work this weekend. As far as the header problem I'm thinking the Sanderson BB8 is what I need after hours of searching the net this week. The only thing that worries me is my POL mounts. Hopefully everything will work out. I'll throw in a bed pic since I haven't done anything new....

Those headers really do hang down a lot, I always use a 4x4 header on my 2wd's because they are shorter and tuck up a lot more to clear the pipe that runs over the transfercase mount.

The BB8 headers will work, but they get close on the passenger side by the collector flange.. I've had some frames that clear great and some that are close..

I thought I done all my homework when I ordered the ones I have, but like a lot of other things, they didn't work out.

Thanks Kyle, do you think they will work with my POL tubular mounts? The BB8's are the ones I'm considering, I emailed Sanderson and they said they "should" work.

I've been checking into the 2455 also, Thanks for the pics. In the last photo the first tube looks like it might hit my tube on the mounts.

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

Done a little tinkering on the truck today. I had to extend the filler neck on my Boyd's gas tank so it would come up thru the bed. Got that finished and the tank back in, had to program the Dakota dash so the sending unit would function right. I started it up and pulled it outside and realized that the alt. is not charging, my buddy hooked it up with one wire and I'm not sure how it's supposed be. Also figured out I had a bad ground from the body to the frame or the frame to the engine, the gauges were flashing on and off. So really not much accomplished here today. Anybody have any ideas on the alternator?
