Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

If interested

Here is a video I found on the use of a shrinking disc...

And a video on a slapper...

Good luck with the hood.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello Everyone;

Well took the chance to do the hood mods.
YAHOO ! ! !
It went great.
The heat to the hood with the pullers on worked great.
Just ck out the "NEW" pic to the old pic in the post.
I have not got the hood hinges done yet,hopefully I will get to do them tomorrow.
The hood fits in the fenders (pic)
Shows the ds,ps n front.
Still have a overhang on the front! ! !

Question! !
Does anyone have the measurements of the fenders to the door opening
(pic)

All so got the glove box door n the speaker grill cleaned n installed just to see what it looks like. (pic)

Very Very pleased with the way the hood fits now.
Now if the hood hinges will tighten up n I can adj the hood.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

AD;

I do have a Question:
Do you have or can you get me the measurement on both the (ds) n (Ps) of the distence between the door n the fenders.
At the lower edge like in my pics.
As you can see mine is like 2.75.
I think I may have to move the fenders forward just a bit to get the hood right.
OR does the hood fit over the top grill bar?

Thanks.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

hi is the hood sticking out in front of the fenders
on my truck they where sticking out by about 1/2 to 3/4"
after trying everything I could think of I tried jacking up the front of the cab
that moved the hood back in to the right place
hope this helps

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Jim;

Yes :
I have about .50 to .75 of hood showing.
I have not gotten the hood hinges tighten up yet.
Going to try that first.
As you can see (pic) I have about,25 to ,75 on the back of hood to work out first.
The hood hinges are very loose.
Will try the hinges n adjments first,

Jim; Thanks for the info n the help.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello Everyone:

Well i got back on the fender hood fit problem.
1st I took the fenders n radiator support off.
Left the hood on the cab.
The hood closed n fit the cab perfect,
So I reinstalled the radiator support.
Hood still closed perfect.except the radiator clearness was not right to clear the top of the radiator.
Check the fender fit(oops)not good.
So took the front cab mounts loose,jacked both side of the cab up very slowly(front windows installed).
Made a .75 or3/4 spacer to go between the cab n the old rubber mount(out of the S-10).
Recheck the radiator clearness n fender fit (much better)
Redid the holes in the fender to give me some adjment room.
Got the rt front fender reinstalled n adjment done.
Will try to do the pass side tomorrow.
Al so installed the front fender supports while I had it apart.

This took most of the day just fitting n refitting ,
Much more pleased with the hood fit now.

Tim

PS/ much thanks to(jim) jeb971957 for the info,

Will post some PIC to morrow.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello;

Jim;

I know just what you mean.
I was about to give up n just run it open hood.
Then when I got the hood to set inbetween the fenders right.
I knew I just had to keep going till I got it to work.
Once I get the ps fender set in place n the radiator support all mounted in n hood closed.
I'll call that good.
Then I'll go to the bed n try to get it move over to fit the wheels I want to use.

Thanks again:

AD;

It has been nice here the past couple of days.
Starts out cold then once the sun comes up it starts to warm up.
Lower teens the up to lower 40.
With the way my shop sets the sun warms it up fair if the wind is not blowing strong.
I have the door to the shop on the east side of the building.
I'll have some pic up tomorrow to show what I got done.

Stay warm n tell the better have I'm thinking of her n wishing her the best.

Jim;

It was cold here for a few days,so just stayed inside.
The past few days have not been to bad lower 40s during the day.
Just got tried of setting around the house.
The wind is blowing this morning again, so not sure just how much I will get done to day.
I will get some (pic) today n post them to show what I did the past couple of days.
It is that time of the year that you just work on the project when the weather will let you.
Just no senice in getting sick.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

I second that jed971959!! It sucks when the weather is cold no mater where you live, when all you want to do is work on your truck.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hey Tim,

I measured two trucks right in the area shown in the picture below. Apologize for the quality. Both were @ 2 1/2" to 2 5/8".

Like many folks, older I get the less I like the cold.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello everyone.

lower 50"s
When it get cold anywhere, most people don"t like it.
It is even harder on us who enjoy working outside on projects.

AD:

Thank You:
So it seems that I was on the ball park on the measurements of my fenders.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hi again:

The pic are

#1 the .75 riser under the cab
#2 the D/S view
#3 the P/S view
#4 front hood to fender
#5 the radiator support installed

The next couple of pic are the radiator support/grill upper support n the metal support that will go under it to support the radiator n (NEW) grill.
Still need to do some cutting on the support(chalk lines)

Still have not though about a grill yet.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello Everyone;

Have been down (unable to work) with a problem on my left leg.
The NEW socket (leg) was to tight n rubbed a blister on my leg.
Been in the house letting the blister heal. (no pic)
Have an appt with the VA next week(WED).
So will be off the leg for a few more days.

So with being in the house n off my feet I'm working on my gauge holder.(pic)
Working with filler to get the holder smooth n ready to paint.
Still learning the amount of hardner to put in the filler mud(getting closer)

Have had some weather coming in for the past couple of days.
Well it got here today (1-13-14)
!!!! SNOW !!!

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

you can send the snow this way need it to open more snowmobile trails
keep the leg off and don't rush it no matter how bored you get from seating around
you will be back out there working on the truck in no time
