Re: Project 'Kickin Wing' (No Limits/Hotchkis/PorterBuilt/LS Power)
Looking good. Good to hear on the floor as that's the route I'm likely to take rather than trying to patch here and there.

On a side note: don't fit your doors until after you do the floor. I know common sense would tell you this, but I only planned to do patches so we had already fit the doors. Once the floors were finished the gaps were a little off. We had the cab well braced, but it likely shifted a bit when we layed it on its back. It wasn't anything major, just enough to move the gaps around a bit. |

Re: Project 'Kickin Wing' (No Limits/Hotchkis/PorterBuilt/LS Power)
Question for the guys following the thread. I originally planned to go without inner fenders so I kept the original hood hinges. Now, I am doubting that decision and was curious if you knew of any options that might work for me with the original hinges?
I know slosh tubs require porterbuilt style hinges, and the original ones obviously wont work due to the drop and width of wheel/tire I am running... |

Re: Project 'Kickin Wing' (No Limits/Hotchkis/PorterBuilt/LS Power)
How much did that No Limit wideride drop the truck? Like 5"? or is it more than that? I'm running a 5" front drop with stock inners and have slung my truck into some wicked turns and accidently hammered it over a few bumps and haven't bottomed it out or rubbed yet, and that's with a chubby 454 up front. I'm running a 19x9", 6" bs & 275/35/19 that are 26.5" inches tall with 35 psi in them. Hotchkis 1500# springs, 2.5" drop spindles & Chris Alston DA shocks.
I went back & forth on the inner fender/hood hinge deal myself - stock vs. slosh tubz vs hills rod & custom vs none, but I really didn't care for the looks of the PB hinges or the Slosh tubz. For some reason, I just had my heart set on the Ring Bros hinges, so that meant no inner fenders or stock ones. Running no inners really wasn't an option because I didn't want to trash all the work I put into getting my engine bay the way I wanted it. I do really like the Hills Hot Rods inners, so if I had it to do over, I'd buck the form over function adage and run them with PB hinges, then I could've run a little less backspace on my front wheels. You may have already, but if you'll check out Chris Smith's build (user Chris67GMC) he had his stock inner's in and was using a Wide Ride on air. Don't know if that's still the case now. You can probably hit him up and get some help, he's who I ordered my Ring Bros. hood hinges from and was really good to deal with. Sorry for the long winded post, let us know what you come up with!

What is the lower hinge bracket that you showed in your earlier pictures?

I like the look of meaty tires with no inners but worry about dents on the firewall and hood, also the noise reduction. If I thought it would even be close I would give the factory wells a shot, but I am thinking no unless I am willing to sacrifice some drop. Thanks for the info! |

Thanks man, Im ready to see that duramax dropped in the chevelle!
It is the plate that you lower door hinges bolts into, mine was rusty and half stripped, so we replaced it with new pieces from Nsane Hot Rodz. |

Re: Project 'Kickin Wing' (No Limits/Hotchkis/PorterBuilt/LS Power)
Been doing some bodywork on the cab and looking at some colors, have it narrowed down to a few non-metallic grey chips. I am avoiding metallic paint colors due to the fact that I haven't painted much before and it will be once less thing to worry about when spraying. The colors I like are kind of a love it or hate it type of thing. My dad says the look like primer with clear over them, but he is warming up to them
Lambo Grigio Telesto- #1 right now Ford Lithium grey- Still waiting to see this one in person. #2 Porsche grey/black- More of a safe choice, more like a natural grey color |

Re: Project 'Kickin Wing' (No Limits/Hotchkis/PorterBuilt/LS Power)
I like the BMW color. But then again, I've always looked at it like your dad. That one though is starting to grow on me. The ford color looks like the sealer we used at the shop I worked at in college (just smooth). I've seen it in person and am not a fan... but that's me.

Got the cab in slick sand, I have a few areas that need a little more attention but all in all it looks pretty good.

I'm also in for some front inner fender ideas. I has some rubbing issues on the track in hard turns . I'd also like to keep the stock hinges.
