Thank you,

It was our pleasure to include her in the process. She said something I thought was funny..."you changed the wheels".

Re: 72 Cheyenne K10 SWB Numbers Matching

Thanks for posting some pics of how you mounted up those rear speakers. I ended up picking up a set of JBL's from Crutchfield. Pricey, but they are supposed to be a decent speaker. They do have the covers for them also. Here is a link if anyone is interested.
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_109GTO4...29.html?tp=102
I have not installed them yet. I'd like to do something like what you have done but I wonder a couple of things. First, are they too close to the ear? Meaning is the sound balanced out in the cab good enough or do you end up hearing the back speakers a little too much. Second thought would be in sound quality. Without being in an enclosure, I'm wondering if that effects it at all. Not that you're really going to get any real bass out of a 4" speaker anyhow. And the audio environment inside our cabs isn't the greatest as well.
My other option that I have contemplated would be to put the 4" speakers in small enclosures, one on each side under the seat facing forward. I'm worried that the sound will end up being muffled under the seat though. I used to have a set of components and put the mid/tweeter satellite on the back pillar. It overpowered the sound and I had to change that. Anyhow... I'm rambling. Thanks for the pics, and let me know if you would set up your rear speakers like this again, or would you have made any changes. Might help me decide what I'm going to do.

Hello Brian,

The balance on our stereo is spot on. Nothing overpowers any other. I wouldn't change a thing. My wife and I are both stereo freaks. We're very particular about the sound quality.

Thanks for enlightening us about the JBL 4s with covers. Have you heard them yet?

Re: 72 Cheyenne K10 SWB Numbers Matching

Good to know that the sound balances out nicely. Thanks!

No, I have not heard the JBL's yet. They are definitely a quality speaker though. They have really large magnets which I am a little worried will give me a bit of trouble trying to stuff them in on the driver side above the tank like you did, but I think I'm going to at least attempt it.

Brian, I believe your speakers will work with the JBL magnet size. My Alpines magnets are pretty close to the same size.

Did you notice our left bracket could only be built with 3 holes to mount the speaker because of room constants by the fuel tank?

I had 33" BFGs on it at one point (when it still had the rally wheels... They definitely rode better, but the "Wow" factor isn't there.

The steering wheel change helped the interior... They also installed a tilt column, and all tilt columns are black(right?). So they changed the dashpad to black to match the column... not sure if they changed the color of the metal part of the dash from saddle to flat black to match the pad and column. I'm not sure how I feel about the dark green door panels and carpet... but it's not my truck so it doesn't matter

I've had more than one person here on this forum tell me that they thought it was a highlander (or had the highlander package). It had white door panels and white seatbelts. The seat had already been recovered once when I got the truck. It was green with green and white plaid inserts. It also had a saddle colored rubber mat.

It was a great truck that I drove everywhere and got a lot of use out of. It was also my first truck... But I really don't regret selling it. It was kinda cool to see it show up again and see what has been done to it.

Re: 72 Cheyenne K10 SWB Numbers Matching

It's with sad news that I report the loss of the original owner's widow (Leona).

As most of you know I spent many years convincing her to sell me the pickup. What is comforting to me is the fact that my boys and I got the pickup done before her passing. We bought it from her on October 2, 2013 and finished it on October 2, 2015. Fortunately in time for her to see it done, which was very important to her. Leona told me this was the first and only new pickup her husband (Johnny) and she ever bought. As a funny side note she said they originally leased it. I didn't even know leases were available in 1972. She hated that lease and said it cost them a lot more than if they had just bought it out right through a bank.

Thank you Ryan,

You know...sometimes other forces are at play and we're just along for the ride. That's definitely been the case with this whole process from start to finish.

Thank you Pete,

She said that also.

Another funny part of the story was that Johnny(original owner) never talked to her about purchasing the truck until after it was already parked in the driveway via the lease she so hated. She promptly informed him that this would be his last new truck and it was. All said and done...they both truly loved the truck.

Later, Your friend Mike

Man, I love this truck!!! One of the last things I have to buy for my 69 I'm redoing is the tires. It had 35's before the rebuild started, but I've been on the fence between 35's or 33's. Those 33's look perfect on your truck and it keeps drawing me in that direction.

Thanks Brian,

I was the same way. 33s and a 2" or 4" lift along with 35s on a 4" lift. Finally settled on the 4" with the 33s. Glad I did, it's just right for me.

Going to move the rear axle forward 1/2" to see if I like the look better or not. This setup is 1" back from stock.

Thank you very much.

I had found a set on search tempest in Texas or NM last fall. Gave the information to a board member through PM. Looked to see if I had any info on them now, but didn't find it. Will keep searching and inform you of such.

Talked to the Mickey Thompson reps at SEMA this year to see if they would consider building them again. Doesn't sound promising at this point. They would like to use the K10 in their booth in the future if I would change the rims to one of their new style wheels. Told them I like it the way it is and that it has their tires already on it...lol.

How can you pass up this opportunity?! Keep this set in your garage and tell them to give you some tires and wheels so you can show off this beautiful k10. Easily the nicest k10 I've seen. Wish to see it in person someday somehow. Looking forward to your c10 build next!

We'll see. Need to talk to the Boise Roadster Show people about this year's show. They wanted it last year, but we didn't get it finished in time.

We're trying to get started on the C10 this Winter/Spring. Not sure if that's going to happen. Looking for a good build-able/affordable LS3. Still working out the suspension details. Thinking of using The Roadster Shop Revo front system. Undecided on the rear whether to update the trailing arms or do a 4 link. Want it to tow the 69 Camaro some, so will probably stick with the trailing arms. Also plan to run 335 or 345 rubber via a mini tub. As you can see my heads is swimming with ideas. Have roundup most of the NOS parts needed for the build. Found a NOS hood and rear bumper this fall. When I bought it back the original hood was gone along with the Supercharger our Son had on it.
