Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
We drove to town and back today IN our truck - is that okay?
Turned in some paperwork at the court house and got some groceries, and some gas & oil for the chainsaw.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Took a ride for lunch . Real nice day yesterday good food and good friends. The two woman that rode with us ride but their husbands have no interest to. And what’s a ride without the tools coming out. Minor job my buddy bottomed out turning around and lost the spring on the jiffy stand . We had to do a make shift holder to keep it retracted.

Well my day started off not truck related, went to some local flea markets just hanging out with my wife and kids... then it turned truck related when I found these pieces of wall art for $25...

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I started putting everything back together on the coupe. I got the head/tail lights done and horn. I still need a new front axle for it so I haven't drove it since I got it back. I welded the front fender supports that were cracked. Just getting it ready. Taking it home with me Thursday and going to install the axle at home a friend of mine has one back in Liberty for it. Plus I'm taking it to our Truck club picnic on the 10 Oct on the ramp truck.
If your anywhere near SC on the 10 this is open to all GM trucks and is the biggest 1 day event in the state. Tim this is the only video I have right now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZrsyzdnKIY

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
went to Church, had a good phone conversation with my Son where I listened during part of it,, talked myself out of catfishing or rummage sales, so I could come home and change fuel filter on Lexus. also bought large black house coffee for drive home. I just finished good homemade brunch, so now I can go strip the inline rusted fuel filter lines, and figure out where to tow it to get it fixed right. so far so good, thanks for listening , have a good afternoon.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Went to a swap meet on Saturday and ran out of money before I ran out of stuff I wanted to buy. Sad day.
Yesterday, closed the pool as the water was too cold for anyone to swim again and looks like the weather is cooling down for good so it was time. My son and daughter were both home from college so I cleaned up their rides for them. Just a thing I like to do when they are home. Wanted to work on my old truck some but visited with the kids instead.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Got my wife to give me my annual Haircut and beard trim a few days early. I normally get that done on my birthday on Oct. 17th. However yesterday I went to our other place and ckecked the cows and cut and loaded a load of firewood. When I left I pulled out on the county road and shut the truck off and went and closed and locked the gate. When I went to leave the Truck wouldn't start. Durn starter went bad. So I stood there with the hood up and about thirty vehicles went past some even speeded upas the went by. Finally these Meth cookers stopped ive never spoke to them. They only knew me as the Hoarder at the corner with the bycycles on the fence. Yes they would give me as ride to our corner. Scrary looking folks tattoos and piercings ect. I remarked as we where going down the road that a great number of vehicles passed and none stopped. The female just looked at me and said I shouldn't wonder you look like Charles Manson. So I got a early haircut and beard trim.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
On Sunday I made one entry door for my little garage. I had a weathered old 6-pane window sash with no glass I salvaged from a fallen down chicken shack. I decided to downsize it to a 4-pane and build the door. I had some old Douglas Fir 2x6, rafters from a garage I tore down, and some t7g beaded barn boards, so didn't need to buy a thing. I left my biscuit cutter at my sister's place, so I glued and screwed together with 6" Timber Loks I also had. Got it built Sunday and yesterday I primed, caulked, and painted. Still need to hang it on hinges, put a latch on it, and put glass in it. Now I'm anxious to do the door on the other side. Although right now it's nice to just walk through until I get a garage door. Then I'll miss being able to cut through

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Nice flea market find. The flea markets are great out there. Lots of home made crafts, art, and food. Is that a rust hole in the one with yellow bowtie? I have a painted 8-lugger cap with some rust holes. The more character the better. Even sits in a 16.5 x 8.25 steelie with a too far gone rusted bead. If I ever get the water line run that will be my hose reel.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Yes sir Tim those are rust holes; 3-4 of them in total. Both are in pretty rough shape, I told my wife that I wanted to hang the yellow on the outside of the front door of the house. She didn’t think it was funny or a good idea. She gets less adventurous and has a declining sense of humor the longer we are married... I’m definitely kidding, I think I’ll keep her around she puts up with me lots more than others probably would.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Just make her something pretty, or whatever she likes, when you can. Then you might be able to hang one by the back door . I meant run a water line out to the garage or back to the barn. I have a hose by the cellar door by the driveway and where we walk into the house. I wouldn't put that set-up there. I do have a slight touch of class. All junk belongs behind the house... then anything goes. I ain't all hillbilly, you know!
I had this pair of hinges left over from in the house. Inside I used all old hand forged hardware. The one had no hinge pin and they are fatter than any pins I have, or what would come with a pair from the hardware store. But I found a bolt that drove tight through the holes on the door part of the hinge but moved freely on the jamb part, so I was able to hang the door! I also made the other door and painted it. That sash had glass, same size as the other, but two panes were cracked. I removed four panes to reconfigure, but now the two won't quite fit back in. Just a but too snug. So I'll have to get panes custom cut 1/8" under. I'm disappointed because that glass is the antique wavy glass. I set it aside for replacements, or maybe I'll make something artsy crafty to use them on

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
You're moving right along on this. Can you do pictures? You'll be under roof before long. I love to stand inside of what I just closed in the first time it rains. That's what building is all about, shelter from the elements.
I'll be the one humping Sakrete today, 30 bags is my estimate, what I'm picking up. I hope it takes less!!! I'm doing the curb/retaining wall thingy for now. Then I'll do the steps. The walkway will probably wait till I do the slab inside the garage. Or I may hand-mix in sections if it doesn't look like I can get to the slab anytime soon. I also have concrete to pour back at my little barn I'll be sliding over 32", monolith post footers/slab extension. I'm still digging that out. Ok, I'm getting tired talking about it.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I got the concrete work done on my garage over the weekend. I wish I could say I got the slab floor done, but that will come later. I wish I could have done that before putting the short bed project in, but... hey, it rolls.
So I picked up 30 bags think the retaining wall could take as much as that. It's really hard to guesstimate that Sakrete. I never go by whatever yardage they say a bag does. That has messed me up before. First I thought 18-20 based on what the work I already did took. It's tricky because you want to be sure you bought enough once you start, but you don't want too much. It doesn't keep well for later use and I doggone sure don't want to handle it an extra time to return. So the wall took 8! That's fantastic but it meant I had 22 bags to use up. I figured it might be enough to do the sidewalk, which I originally intended to do when I got a truck order for other work I have coming up. But I decided to do the steps which also had stone work involved, because I had the time for all that. Did all that and still had 14 bags left, so I did the first section of sidewalk. Had two left over so figured 10 more would do it, but I went for 12 more bags. Got it all done, have 2 left

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Let's see, spent last afternoon fixing a toilet. Fortunately it was quick and I had the parts I needed in my box of plumbing stuff. Then turned my attention to what I will need today. Made sure my variable DC power supply still works and would work in the 110VAC outlet in the back of my 4Runner. Headed out this morning to set up some instruments for a power plant. Due to COVID they won't let me come in the plant so I am just going to pick them up in the gravel lot outside the fence, set them up, and give them right back. Hope it all goes as planned, needed DC to power them up so I can connect configure them.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Last night my wife said “ Do you think we have enough wood for the winter in the basement?" I said we have 5 + we’re good . I get Ok .. so today I started on another load . I’ll fill it up tomorrow, each load is a heavy 2 cord of wood . This wood is two to three years stacked . And a plastic cup of Tallamore dew rounds it off

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I need to get some firewood myself. There was more to my concrete story I didn't tell. In the sidewalk area I had exposed a footer I poured with post in it from my youngest son's swing set close to 30 years ago. I had hoped I could break it up enough to allow pouring over it but that concrete was tight. So it had to come out and it was very heavy. I dug down some around it. The upper part was flared out to give a more secure footer for the swinging action. I was able to put a chain around it below where it mushroomed out. I used my antique Hi-Lift jack to hoist it up up from it's perch. Then horizontal to drag it out. The hooked up a long long chain to my Suburban to carefully drag it to the driveway. It all worked out using what I had to work with
