Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
Well gas in my hometown is 2.32 but a town away in Greeley there are still a few places to find gas at 1.99. That is why I think fuel companies are full of poop with the prices. Why are prices cheaper at the same exact 7-11 thirty miles away compared to my town or even higher at other stations. Nothing but pure greed if you ask me

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
Coincidence there is an upcoming election and Russia just banned the export of petrol for six months?
U.S. Northeast Gasoline Reserve Could Be Sold Off The U.S. could sell off its 1-million-barrel Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve in the fiscal year of 2024, a funding bill up for discussion at U.S. Congress says. Under the draft text of the bill, “the Secretary of Energy shall draw down and sell one million barrels of refined petroleum product from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve during fiscal year 2024.” “Upon the completion of such sale, the Secretary shall carry out the closure of the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve,” says the bill. Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
Well we have risen $0.50 per gallon since I posted last when it was $2.69 per. Now at $3.19 for 87 octane corn squeezins. I'm pretty sure this is just short stop before heading further upward. Bound to help out our national economy I'm sure! (Heavy sarcasm meant there!)

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
And 15% gasohol will likely be allowed this summer with waiver renewal then allowed permanently:
Exclusive: Biden administration to approve E15 gasoline expansion starting in 2025, sources say “U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said at a conference on Tuesday he was confident that expanded sales of E15 would be available across the country in 2025 and that, until then, the administration would likely issue temporary waivers this summer to enable sales.” HERE: https://www.reuters.com/world/us/bid...ay-2024-02-20/

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
Yup. I lost a perfectly good older Stihl commercial-grade 042 due to ethanol-laced gas. Now I run ethanol-free gas in my small engines. It's expensive and it's an hour's drive away, but worth the effort.

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
We used to see on our pumps "up to 10% ethanol added" to our 87 and 89 grade gas. Our 91 was ethanol free. Well that has changed. I recently bought some 91 for my small engines and saw that disclosure on all 3 grades now. I'll have to pay attention to other pumps around town to see if they are doing the same.
Oh and our prices are doing the yoyo right now. Up a nickel, down two, up seven, up ten. All over a couple of weeks. I just try to keep enough gas in my trucks to allow me to drive right through those pricing peaks and maybe average on the lower side.

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
We're running about 2.77 gallon for regular. The efree stuff is about 3.40 gal for 87 grade. I'm afraid to look at the premium grade price. Of course those could change by the time I get out today.

I had a conversation yesterday with my roofing/siding guy. We were talking about how the price of vinyl siding is affected by the price of oil. He mentioned constantly getting letters over the years about rising cost of siding due to rising costs of oil. We bought thought it was "funny" how when the cost of a barrel of oil (dictated by oil futures) dropped the cost of siding never did. That is above all else, GREED!!!!!! |

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
Why gas is so expensive in California
"Several factors go into what drivers pay for gas, including refining costs, taxes, distribution and marketing, and crude oil prices, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration." More to the story HERE
