Electrical fire but had I been carrying an extinguisher I could have saved the truck. I will travel with one going forward.

that sucks bro, I am sure you have done this already, but make sure you get the one that is rated for electrical fires

a buddy of mine is a firefighter captain and he points out that it is actually the metal that burns not only because of the paint but because of the flammable particles in it, as well as the electrical wire shielding conduit, interior, seats, and of course the gasoline and oil, so please, please think about that if you ever face the inevitable "Electric Cars Catch On Fire" argument, ahem discussion

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck

Phase II - the plan
  1. Lock the input shaft (this forces the second motor to help spin the rear wheels)
  2. Add second BMW 530e 9.1 kWh battery pack (for a total of ... wait for it... 18.2 kWh)
  3. Attempt to install the iBooster [again]
  4. Replace the stock 3.73 rear diff gear with 4.11
  5. Replace the 2.4" Nextion display with a 3.5" (size matters)
  6. Replace the BMW floor mounted throttle pedal with something that hangs
  7. Replace the B&M floor shifter with something not so LOUD !
  8. Code the VCU to shut down the water pump after charging
  9. Automate charging after plugging it in
  10. Replace the Chevy Volt Charger/DC-DC Converter with a Mitsubishi Outlander "Combo" unit

this made me chuckle as I recalled sitting on the kitchen floor pouting while building the 40 pin wiring connector for the electric truck

my wife walked into the kitchen and asked how it was going

it's hard babe, I don't think I can do it, I told her

Didn't you used to do LS Swaps? she asked

I did, I replied

... and how many pins were those connectors? she asked

80, I said

"EIGHTY" she replied whilst grabbing a Klondike bar out of the freezer with a smerk on her face

Here's a trip down memory lane, and me working on an internal combustion engine wiring harness aka the 5.3L LS I shoved into a '54 Chevy truck, sure looks easy don't it? ha ha

This is one cool truck. But you sorta parked off center, makes it hard to get out on the driver side.

thanks, this is how we park in California, I mean, the lady I followed to her apartment is parked on the other side and has her driver door opened, I parked here for 2 minutes to unload the chair for her

You're a good man and you like to use your truck as a truck.
