Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Put the seatbelts back in, only to remove those as I just had to soak the bolts in Evaporust. I also degreased the attachment tabs.

Zip tied the cushion around the fuel shutoff valve.

Put the new floor mat in. It fits nearly perfect and I think it'll be fine. It came from Classic Parts.

Holding off on the seat until the mat can "take a set" to the floor contours.

Primed the fan cover and 1 radiator bracket. Hit the other bracket with Rust Treatment (NAPA).

Also cleaned out the garage a bit.....getting more room for the next steps.

That floor mat looks *perfect* ~ the seat bolt holes don't appear to line up correctly tho' .

What's the Vendor again ? maybe a link ? I'd like to buy that exact mat for my '60 C/10 low hump cab .

I hope they have the longer version that goes back under the seat as that'll quiet it down much more .

Don , I'm shocked and amazed ~ after all the hard work you put in , Ol Dollar is gone ! .

Thanks man but looking at the original mat, the bracket cut outs didn't line up either. At least one bolt on either side went through the mat.

My original mat looked exactly like this one, with the "tails" on either side. The only other version Classic Parts had was without the tails, so it covered even less. I was going to put down some floor insulation but I have that gaping rust hole under the fuel tank---I didn't think any insulation would be a benefit until I can get that fixed.

Let me try and find you a link. Remember to look for low or high hump.

New to the boards. Picked up a '71 C10 on Wednesday. She's a work in progress. Little rust, little more rust preventer, more than a little house paint in the interior. White with blue. Today, she got new shoes. Not sure how old the ones she was wearing were, but they were awfully cracked.
Oh, the specs. LWB, leafs and disks, 350, TH350.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

All I have done today is clean up the seat belt bolts with Evaporust and the wire wheel. I now have a coat of NAPA Rust Treatment on those. I also painted a couple more coats of Gloss Black onto 1 radiator bracket and the fan cover.

I found the other original rear cab bolt and cleaned it up also.......I have no use for it but I want to keep all of the truck's original hardware.

My first car was a 1963 ChevyII 100 that had an Iron Duke in it. (It was an old Power and Light meter reader's car)
It's a great engine, but not sure what I would do with it besides sit on my garage floor. :-)

I know I shouldn't ask but what do you want for it. (I can't believe I am asking)

Great price, but I better pass. If I was going to be in the area that would be one thing but ....

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

After I hauled away some trash, I got into the garage and just took things in. I am near spiritually moved by the truck progress. 10 years it has sat in the garage....but now it stands on the brink of leaving the garage.

And once that happens, the garage can finally be renovated to modern standards.

Finished up cleaning a spare '72 front cross member, control arms, and misc parts.
Priming with black Rustoleum Rust Reformer.
Starting to paint the stuff now with Rustoleum satin.

This is to do a "stock parts" conversion to disc brakes on my '70.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Taped up the inside of the cab we had painted last weekend and shot the top of the cab white.
I had been leaning towards white top and light green bottom color but when we unmasked everything I love how the white pops against the tan interior (original) color. Asked my wife for some input and she said "Yep, paint it tan".
So the final color combo will be tan lower with a white top.
Got the fenders in primer ready to final sand next weekend.
