Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I've noticed the slowdown also. Autobody toolmart is taking over a week before they even ship! Eastwood just recently had a major fire, and they've been trying to recover since. I called them when some stuff I ordered never showed up, and found out they are backlogged on a lot of stuff.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I fabricated a makeshift brackets that screwed to the bottom of the dash. It was a PIA. When I installed my Vintage Air removed it because I didn't want to mess with redoing one of the brackets. I pitched it out and went with an arm feast with cup holders.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I spent most of the day cleaning the inside of my car and cleaning the battery terminals.
On the truck, the rain was so bad that I didn't paint the remaining grill bracket. I did however turn the hood bumpers on a wire wheel to clean up. Oddly enough one is shorter than the other and they are not the same design. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I ran electrolysis for what I think will be the last time for quite a while. This last part is the new (well, 1970 OEM) battery tray. The part is now soaking overnight in evaporust. I was able to load up the soaking container to the point that I got 80 percent of the tray in the fluid and tomorrow I'll flip it over and that will be that!
Gosh I hope to reassemble the front end soon. |

Waiting to fund a new oil pickup, and a few other odds and ends. Top end is ready to put on, but I want to get the bottom stuff done first.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
400 mile road trip this weekend to pickup a Th350 auto transmission from 4X4GMC1972 in Dallas. My 72 ran great and only burned 1 quart of oil, not bad for 117,000 mile truck. I'm excited to get an auto, 3OTT stinks in traffic.
Thanks for gift wrapping if for me Todd

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Regrettably no, it rains far too much in the summer. The winters are perfect though!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Got puled over sat night for a burnt out plate light. Fixed that and put new bulbs in my dash cluster. Also put in a new round wire for the dash cluster so my temp and gas gauge would read correctly. This done to my 67' k20.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
All I got done today was flipping the replacement battery tray over so as to get the other 1/2 cleaned in Evaporust and wire wheeling and rust treating (NAPA spray) my original battery tray bolts. I also put some replacement fender bolts into evaporust.

I replaced the throttle return spring, made the engine return to proper idle.
Ten Ring: Have you tried white vinegar for rust removal? Worked well for me, 6 gallons for $12. Added 2 gallons of water, no flipping needed, just 48 hrs. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Disassembled, sanded, primed, the vent window frames yesterday. This morning I went out and painted them. Drying now. Will put em back together next weekend or sooner.
Not much progress actually, but better than nothing.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Last few days I've just cleaned parts and organized. Also purchased two rare pieces...........
3994046 Exhaust manifold. I had never seen one. I guess cuz the part # is consistent with the 3994045. I don't know, these manifolds are kind of a mystery. NOS coolant recovery. Wasn't cheap.
