No fish was harmed in this pic., released in fine shape and swam away

OK, my internal batteries have been recharged for the year, time to start working on the truck.....
I think ill get back into the ecu wiring and clean that up, finish up some stray wires and put new shielding on the bundles, maybe wrap in some tin foil, to protect from noise
No fish harmed or not i can still envision (good ole days) the taste of a fresh steelhead on my dinner plate, least over here there are hatchery steelhead, definitely let all wild fish go free.. Pretty sure i see an adipose fin on her back.

Im afraid they dont taste very good from what the locals say up there....but, the wifey gets a seafood dinner outa my fishing trip by way of her fav. eatery, that was the deal set up in the beginning twenty years ago....

I just like the way they fight, its like tying onto a lightning bolt, and for that thrill i wouldnt want to kill one

Yes, on the fin.....

Sorry to mislead you, but youre right it doesnt. Unless, you get the XIM box! Then you can get rid of the cap and rotor

Thank you for correcting any statements in my post, i wouldnt want someone to think you can connect COP directly to FAST's ECM

Really? I would have thought any of the modern ECUs would support a 58x trigger and COP even more so than a distributor I would have thought.

Yea, I looked it up, you have an XFI-2.0? You should be fine, should be able to do any distributorless ignition you can think of. Even if you have no triggers, you could run a crank trigger and wasted spark, where the plug fires on every rotation...a common way to do it on early engines, works fine. I looked at all these aftermarket ECUs and I didn't think there was one that needed a distributor.

Wow, great news, you are the man.....

I have a XFI 2.0 with a dual sync distri. and a crank trigger.....So, does that mean i get rid of my MSD 6 AL box?

OK, back on track. This board is full of info.

Re: PO has me PO'd

You'll probably need to check with FAST on the specifics of the coils you plan to use. The ones for my engine can be driven directly by most aftermarket ECUs. Mine have a +12V lead, a ground lead and a low voltage trigger. Mine are fairly specific to my crazy engine being, for lack of a better way of describing it, kind of like a Hemi where the plug is down in a hole in the valve cover, but I know there are small block versions of these coils. You may need a different flywheel trigger or FAST may actually be able to simply use what you have, I don't really know the specifics, but I wouldn't think you would need anything from your distributor system at all.

The advantage to using trigger driven descrete coils through the ECU is that even in wasted spark mode, the coils are only released 1/4th as often (1/8th as often if driven along with a cam trigger) and there is no sort of mechanical or vacuum advance required, the ECU handles the advance electronically. If you have an ECU that also can handle ping sensors it can vary the spark to discourage pinging and can often provide the same performance to the engine on lesser octane fuel. Between variable valve timing and more advanced spark control this is a major contributor to these crazy horsepower numbers new engines are achiveing. When these trucks were built a 500+ hp engine in less than a 6 liter small block would have required a fairly undrivable lopey cam, solid or roller lifters, and at least 10+:1 compression. Now it's a fairly common factory option. There are non-boosted 4 cylinders putting out more HP than our trucks were available with stock now.

Re: PO has me PO'd

Skorpio, thank you for giving my problem your time and attention. Posted up on the FAST XFI forum, and asked the leading tuner this very question, waiting for someone to get back to me. Hope it will work out as you suggest....ill let you know the outcome either way.

Sent my injectors off to be rebuilt and tested, getting close to all the final pieces......200.00

Re: PO has me PO'd

Picked up the right adapter for the vacuum side, ORB(o ring boss) to NPT.....

20140319_121108 by james_jaros, on Flickr

Also, talked to Wheels Vintiques, seems our wheels are lug centric, so he says i will not have any worries using these wheels off road, if i use the correct conical acorn nuts. Not sure if i want to cover up these wheels with SS rings and caps. Powder coat looks great the way it is. Also, i read somewhere you should remove PC from the surface where the lug meets wheel.

Wanted to put 10" wide wheels on the back, but it will have to wait. Wheel house has to be tubbed, and bed has to be narrowed.....so, to keep moving forward on this project, ill put this mod. off for a rainy day

Re: PO has me PO'd

Spent some time on the plenum and runners....pressed, sorta (the ol' 2 pound sledge and socket extension method). Plus, a little black RTV.

Installed vacuum port adapter, and connecter for vacuum booster on plenum. Should be enough for all my vacuum needs

Finally had a couple bucks to have my OEM injectors reconditioned, installed and wired. Now, just the spark plug wires need to be worked on, and check timing with a degree wheel

Installed block off plates for 9th injector and EGR

Thanks Me too, Tully! I just hope it makes loud motor noises, and not POP! BANG! GRIND! noises. It does have the original bottom end, and im starting to think that now is the time to replace it

Problem is, i dont know if i want a 400, or a 383. Would be cool to have a stroked big, small block. Thats what my Dad had in his......He's always in my thoughts and prayers

BTW, that is a 7/8" freeze plug installed in the intake runner

Re: PO has me PO'd

Started on final mock up, before bolting up intake (7,9,11 inch/pounds) down. A little fitment problem with the 9th injector block off plate. Was rocking on the intake surface, 1/16th" of filing on the outside edge got it to seat right

Im a stud and flange nut kinda guy, makes assembly easier

20140422_114629 by james_jaros, on Flickr

Black oxide stud went into a water jacket, so i used a thread sealer, plan to use this location for grounding wire harness

Dont use a black marker to lay out you gasket

I try to buy allen drive or torx drive studs, just in case the part wont come off easily. Gotta luv having McMaster-Carr on your front porch with one day delivery.....

Thanks for stopping by Cap.

On a side note.....picked up a tilt column with a busted up shifter bowl pin hole,,now i dont feel to bad for cutting the nub off for the shifter. Sorta turned my tilt into a floor shift column

Re: PO has me PO'd

Well, i didnt like the cheap plastic convulated split covering on the harness. Found the ashault cloth woven sleeve at maney wire and cable 5/16" about $50.00 for 100', smallest amount they sell. So, if anyone needs some lmk.

Plus fast connected all red wires into one wire connector, so, ill split one wire to feed two, and then take each of those wires and feed two injectors, so i can sleeve it back further towards the connecter

Write down wire locations from connecter
