Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Arctic cold and snowing here in Denver today.

Designed a tool box to go in the front of the bed. Bolts to the floor so it can be removed. Will be made all out of 2 x 4's. The idea is to look like an old shipping crate, yet still be functional.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Looked out the window at mine and saw it was covered in 2 feet of snow.... waiting patiently for the snow to melt so I can bring her in the shop. Need to mount my inner fenders and my passenger side door among other things....

Yes. "made all out of 2 x 4's." Think mid 1960's era heavy duty shipping crate.

I currently live outside the Birmingham area , but I have family that I visit frequently in the Gulf Shores/ Foley area and use my uncles house & boat for fishing trips. I honestly didn't even know about the cruise in... I don't know where to find info on local cruise in's/ shows. I have thought about driving my truck down there too, but like you said I would burn about 40-50 gallons of gas one way!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

After plowing 8-10” of snow last night, I decided to do something fun today and slapped on the new front wheels. 20 degrees today dropping to zero tomorrow, so it will be a few days before I can take some decent photos.

Here’s a picture of the old 15x5’s on the front. The sidewalls bulge out quite a bit:

And here’s the same tires stretched over 15x7’s:

Quick get it back inside before it catches a cold. Those wheels really pop. Do you have a clear coat on that paint?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

No clear coat, it's just John Deere Blitz Black air dry enamel. It hides dirt really well. The hood and fenders are covered in dust and rain splatter and there's mud splashed on the wheel wells. I'm amazed how good it looks considering it hasn't been washed in a couple of months.

That's it Exactly!

Being a child of the late 60's in my book it is hard to beat the Coyote and his infatuation with ACME products.

And there's your theme name for the 'patina' lettering on said crate!

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Finally threw out my old gas tank (which leaked like a shower head). And installed a new one from Eckler's. Clean gas and no gas smell!

If you see my truck on the National News with ATF agents and choppers surrounding it, Scoti and Gulffishin are to blame.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Chipping away at finishing my interior:
  • Painted seat risers
  • Camaro Dash: Glove Box: Assembled liner, installed light and wiring, installed door. Ash Tray: installed tray support and tray,
  • Finished modifying stock wiring harness for new gauges,
  • Installed sending unit for oil pressure. I had to use an 1/8" pipe nipple, coupling a street elbow to get the AutoMeter sending unit to fit.

That is going to look so cool. Can't wait to see it put together. I'm envious of having a dash that comes out. That has to make it so much easier to work on everything.

Thanks Mark.

I am using disconnects on all electrical connections too which will enable future removal of the dash without cutting any wires.
