Just takes practice. I'm sure you'll get it next time you get the chance. Take care.

Re: The Blue Goose
Hubscrub- I'll try to go to some of them.. but I doubt I will be in John's truck. (Probably end up in a ditch somewhere if I attempt that without him haha.) Please keep us updated on when & where some cruise ins are so if John gets to come home for awhile, hopefully we can go to one. Thanks! -Britt

Re: The Blue Goose
I was just wondering how John was doing. Hope all is well.
Do you know where in Texas he is? Probably San Antonio. My dad was in the Air Force late 1960 and I believe he did basic training in San Antonio. Later served on Edwards Air Force base in California. Keith |

Re: The Blue Goose
lil hoodlum- I have not heard from John since Wednesday (& that was when he called his dad). Yes, he is in San Antonio, Texas for his basic training. I sent him a letter today & in it I told him that I let everyone on here know that he had made it safely. I hope to get a letter from him soon. That must be a great honor to have a dad that was in the Air Force! John is the 4th generation to be part of the military. -Britt

Re: The Blue Goose
JUST GOT A CALL FROM JOHN!!!! He said they get a few minutes (8 I believe) to call everyone. I asked him how he has been and he said he gets yelled at a lot because he doesn't know what he's doing & that it's definitely an experience. He said he gets about 4 hours of sleep then they all have to run/exercise. He also said it's nice to finally talk to people. He told me that he got my letter and that he sent me one back on Friday.. so hopefully I will get it tomorrow or Tuesday.

Re: The Blue Goose
haha sorry, I was excited. I received two letters today from him. He doesn't like the food, running 45 min. every morning, 1 minute showers with 6 other people, etc...
His dad brought our marine battery over a few days ago.. (John had borrowed it because his other battery in his truck was dead.) He was going to switch them before he left but all the wires that were connected to the Marine battery, at the time, wouldn't reach to the car battery. (They were too short or something?) If that makes any sense? -Brittany

Re: The Blue Goose
lil hoodlum- He got an hour phone call Sunday (usually it's just 15-20 minutes). His graduation will be May 3-6, 2012 (as of right now). Then on Monday, May 7 he will start his schooling (that will be for 3 months I believe). He can't wait to be home and eat a long "civilian food" meal, take long showers alone, and see everyone. He is hoping to be home around his birthday and said, "Maybe sometime this fall we could hit up that big car show at dollywood.." (Shades of the Past..??)

Re: The Blue Goose
Thought I would post this for everyone to look at. I don't know how to post pictures, so I'll just post the links. This was an event in town (Mcminnville) that was held to collect money and canned food items for Meals on Wheels. Everyone drove their nicest cars/trucks (old and new). I think they had a pretty good turn out for the first time.. but you can see for yourself

Re: The Blue Goose
Hey, Brittany. I just now found this thread and saw you were making posts for him. It's good to hear the updates. Tell John we're all proud of him. Make sure he eats plenty of the good home cooked food for us, too.
Yes, Shades of The Past is the big show held in the Dollywood Splash Country parking lot.

Re: The Blue Goose
68Stepbed- I will tell him that all of you are proud of him. I'm sure if I tell him you said to eat enough food for everyone, he will definitely use that as an excuse to eat more haha.
He finished BEAST this past week. I asked him how his 'camping trip' went and he said, "It was not a camping trip.." and that it was terrible. They ate MRE's the whole time. Inside the MRE's are moisture absorbent packs?? (They say DO NOT EAT on them) He didn't read it & thought it was seasoning so he put it on his food... all week.. he's probably regreting that now.. haha. All they have to do now is take tests and then he will graduate. YAY! So proud of him. Maybe he will get to have his laptop sometime soon and can talk about trucks with everyone. -Britt

Re: The Blue Goose
Got home last night from Texas. John is now at Wichita Falls, TX for his Tech school. He should get to come home for a week sometime in September. He is glad that basic is over & was happy to see everyone. He enjoyed riding in the car, getting to see San Antonio, walking not marching, eating 'civilian food', etc.. The graduation ceremony was interesting to watch (everything was really). He should get his computer soon so he can talk trucks with all of you haha.
