Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

Ok - here are some updated shots I just took..

And the dash..

I can take some undercarriage shots if you like later. I redid the seals in the engine, new Carb, Shocks, heater (which I use a lot nowadays..), radiator, clutch plate speedometer cables, and some other stuff that I cant remember right now...I am getting old...heheh

The truck now has no leaks or problems. Everything works now and I really like thistruck...

I like it too. Nice enough that you should not be ashamed to drive it but not so nice that you are afraid to park it at Lowes.

I have been told that if I change that oil bath to a paper air cleaner i could get more mileage, although I dont know how much. If it was a substantial amount i would prolly do it, but i doubt it is much of a gain..

Thanks 3speed.
Hey just wondering, do you know what the 910 emblem on the GMC stands for. I am debating whether to put any emblems back on.

I think I read somewhere on here that 910 was the Canadian version of C10 but don't hold me to that. Maybe you could try a search for "910".

I'm trying to talk my wife into getting a x4 burb for a family vehicle. I think it's a good idea; she doesn't think so. I need to show her the pix of your's. Nice rides.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

I finally got around to scanning some pics of trucks my bros and I had over the years... Notice I said "had"... I have to older bros. They are 48 and 46 and I am 38 y.o. We have had a lot of cars and trucks over the years, mostly Chevys, nearly all GM.
The first is my "middle" bros. 72 Custom LWB fleet. He bought it wrecked around 1987 for $500. It had a PERFECT rust free body, even the rockers. We put a front clip on it and had it painted the stock colors. It came from Henna Chevrolet in Austin, Tx (still in business). It was a 307 3 OTT originally. No AC or PB, radio delete, but it had PS. It got a 350 and TH400 later. He added a tach dash, tilt column and a blue Cheyenne Super seat cover. It got stolen and stripped around 1994. The insurance company recovered it and EVERYTHING had been carefully removed, not hacked. All that was still there was the rolling chassis (guess they didn't wasnt the Rally's(?), bare cab (no doors, seat, tilt column, tach dash) and the motor was still there. Luckily he had full coverage including theft. Unfortunately, the ins co. wouldn't sell it back for a set amount. It had to go to auction. He went to the auction to by it back. He dropped out at $1k. Two other guys got in a bidding war, and it went for $2k (!). He gave the new owner the Protecto plate for it before he left.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

The second was also the middle bros. He came across it while on a commercial AC repair service call. He paid $1k for it around 1995 It came from somewhere around Austin as well. It was a 72 Custom 10, 402BB, TH400, AC, PS, PB, radio delete. The PO was a custom cabinet shop that stopped driving it when the gas crisis started in the 70's. It only had 19k miles on it (!) when he bought it. They still used it around the shop and had it parked where the discharge was for the dust vacuum was, and when the bed was full, they took it to dump. We had to find a replacement bed, as it was rusted out from the dust collecting moisture. It still had the original jack in the bag, owners manual, protecto plate and dealer invoice/ paperwork, original tires,(including spare) belts and hoses on it. He dropped a battery in it and drove it home. On the way, his girlfriend said to him "Hey, I wonder if the AC works?". Before he could say anything, she hit the switch, and ice cold air came out, along with about 20 yrs worth of leaves and trash. OOPS! We had to replace the core support and right fender, due to rust from the battery leaking. He went to the Chevy dealer where he was living in Dallas, and they checked around and found an NOS fender and raiator support somewhere or another (!) The rest of the truck was immaculate, even the interior, as it was covered where it sat under the discharge. The underhood pics are of the engine as he bought it, unrestored! He pulled the original wheels and tires in order to preserve them, and installed the Rally's and radials. The PO said he special ordered it for pulling a trailer to jobs to build custom cabinets, that is why it was optioned like it was. We never could figure why he didnt order a 3/4 ton, though. Or even leaf springs (it had coils). He paid more for it than my uncle did for his 72 Cheyenne BB that he bought off the lot! (Pictures of it to follow). He sold it for $8k around 1998. I have never driven a restored truck that was as quiet, tight and rattle free as this truck was! I never figured why he painted it Corvette yellow, though...
