Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Changed out my old turn signal switch. One of the wires caught in the wheel and shorted the switch out. Took it out and fixed the short. Back in and on the road again. My and my two boys(7&9) went for a short cruise to the parts store to get a new flasher relay. Went to a small auto show today and checked out some nice rides. My wife and kids wanted to go so we all went. Nice to have something the family enjoys.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Got the block back from the machine shop, painted it, bolted on the oil pump, heads, and then realized the new cam I ordered was broken in half. Sending it back for a replacement next week =) Here is what was done so far....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I'd just drill that rivet out and put a pin or bolt in it. Good luck however you go. Jim

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well i spent the late afternoon on this past friday finally getting back to my 69, well i decided to remove the fuel tank but it still had fuel in it, so being thrifty (tight) i couldnt see losing 4.00 gas, so i put it in my 02 tahoe, guess what i was doing today (mon)..pulling tahoe tank to clean out all the bad gas and replace the fuel filter...no more saving old gas for me...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Thanks, they are Spintech Super Pro Streets. 2.5" inlet/Outlet. Supposed to be their most aggressive street muffler. I got them from Maryland Speed for $150.00 for the pair. The POR Exhaust paint really turned out well, really love the way it looks.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I recently bought another truck, a '72 GMC. Once again, I have a GMC dressed in Chevy clothes so it looks like a '68. It's an LS 5.3 with a 4L60E. It has SpinTech mufflers running off a 3-inch exhaust...it's loud as hell!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Today I finished what has been a long, arduous week of fixing, tuning, fixing again, tuning again and so on and so forth, ad infinitum.
In all I have done: (in no particular order) Rear brake cylinders, shoes & hardware Front brake calipers, rotors, wheel bearings pads and lines Install new HEI distributor, plugs and wires rebuilt an old '66 holley 4bbl, only to discover that the body was tweaked, causing the secondaries to flood the motor. Rebuilt a Holley 650 double pumper and installed it. MPG?! Whats that? Adjusted the shift linkage so that the indicator points at P (still doesn't show right for the rest of the gears - WTF?) Re-wired the running lights, turn signals and brake lights. (PO did a 'custom' wiring job on this truck, which meant that every time you hit the brakes, the turn signals quit working) Set initial timing to 8* BTDC, adjusted to near 12* BTDC based on vacuum gauge and engine idle quality. Tuned Carb (vacuum gauge method) Adjusted Idle Bleed Brakes (took FOREVER to get all the air out) Install new throttle cable (will go Lokar next time, as the Spectre unit was less than stellar) Oil/Filter change Cooling system flush/fill Repaired starter solenoid (worn/corroded contacts, will be replacing with a gear reduction starter soon enough) New belts for Alternator & P.S. Repaired door lock mechanism on Drivers door Cleaned and lubed door lock mechanism on Passenger door On the agenda for tomorrow: Test Drive. If nothing egregious rears its head during the TD, will be doing a full detail clean, including wash/wax, then installing some chrome pieces that have been patiently waiting to go in the engine bay. At this point, I expect the exhaust to fall off. Its about the only part of this truck that i haven't touched in the last week.. Time for a beer! |
