Tried to put the rear ebrake cables in tonight. They are wrong. Here is a pic of the old and the new. I ordered PN 63-15516 for 63-65 1/2 ton SB.

Updated edit. It is probably my fault. I forgot I used the 72 trailing arms. LINKY to a question I posted. Researching still.

Allan, why don't you just clean them up? I did that with both Studebaker's I did. First I wire wheeled them, then painted the housing silver. They looked almost new. Besides are you going to show it with mirrors under the truck. Just my 2 cents. I'll shut up now.

Someone sew that guys ^ mount shut. HAHA

That's a good Idea on cleaning them. Unless you have any wires that are messed up I would clean them up.

I've only got one old one. For $20 ea I'll just get new ones so they will match. I ordered the ones for a 72. Yes, I might use mirrors and even if I didn't they will still look. Once they (at shows) here you did it yourself they look harder for defects. They won't have to look too hard. I figured if someone gets down on the ground to look I will just kick them in the nuts.

Using J clips to mount the fuel tank, because once the bed is mounted there is no access from the top to get to the nuts.

Done. Now if I have to service it it should be able to come down fairly easy depending on how I do the filler neck.



Got the blast cabinet going, man it makes for quick work. This piece might have taken 20 seconds at the most. Dirty vs clean

My compressor is rated 10.3 CFM @ 90 psi. 5HP 60 Gal. I throttled the air flow back and it seems to last a little longer, but still runs out.

Are you making fun of my pics.

Started mocking up the fuel door.

First I started by trimming off the extra metal.





Once I got it in place I marked around it. I installed the mouldings to see where I need to be.



Then taped on the inside of the line. That will be my cut line to start with. Notice the arrows to remind me where to cut. There is a reason for that.



I pulled a piece of tape from the C/L on the outside over to the C/L on the inside to make sure it somewhat lines up with the fill tube. It looks pretty good so far. That's all for now.............Stay tuned.

Nice work Alan. I have a question. when you cut such a large area in a panel does it make that area acceptable to warping or loosing it's shape?

Thanks David, and yes it will be flemsy until I get it all back together. I will do tack welds all the way around till it's welded solid. I've got a big sunk in place just forward of that area adjacent to the tape that I hope I can work out as I weld everything back together.

First off I'm thinking about doing a blog about this build. Hopeing in time I could generate some extra cash. There are people out there that make a living blogging. That's basically what I'm doing now just not getting any advertisement money coming in. What's your thoughts. I'd love to do some how too videos, but I could incorporate those into the blog using different products. I just don't know what to do. I love teaching and showing people different techniques just don't know the best way to go about it. Cash doesn't exist to do any thing wild. I don't know if I should use a blogging website or create my own site. I'm so confussed.

Anyway got another set of brake lines because of the one that had some lumps in it. Well the new ones are the same way. Why in the world are they that way. It should be a straight line.



I was missing some hardware for my rear brakes. I called O'Rileys and ordered PNH7018 it was only $4.07 with tax.



Shannon and I went to the powder coaters tonight. I picked up my radiator saddles that I had done in wet black. The pic doesn't do it justice. They look awesome.
