Re: My Facetruck thread.

I remember when passenger side mirrors only came on expensive cars or were an option. Back then passing on the right was illegal. I kinda liked that better. Of course, I never drove a car without dual mirrors. If it didn't have one I'd find one and put it on.

That car is the essence of the A-body GM. White is perfect for it. It don't need no color to stand out. It's a 100% stand out car! Those are some of the few good looking wheel covers ever put on cars. The cast bolt-on turbine with 2-bar spinners that were on my '63 Riviera are one (another 100% stand out car) and the chrome wheel look that came on the Mercury Comet Caliente are the others. I think '61-'67 were the best years for cars, modern styling (relative) with all the good old motors

I was losing my mind

but had about 20 over to enjoy the great food.. something like 16lbs of meat, plus beans, extra sauce and Mrs. Bee made mom's recipe for mac n cheese!!

not sure if anyone got any pictures but it was quite a spread in our humble little house.. I was too busy making drinks

kids played in the jumper and my buddy's oldest daughter took them all to the park for a mega nerf gun fight..

my boy's gun collection takes after mine

Re: My Facetruck thread.

We used to have a nerf weapon stash like that, too. My older son and his friend one day got into my building supplies... dowels for closet rods, foam sill sealer, and duct tape... and made an assortment of 'soft' midevel weaponry and armor so they could beat the crap out of each other . I was very impressed

No frozen ground there, ey? I think we have had two spells cold enough to freeze the ground up. We got the warm day today. I went all day in a t-shirt. We seem to get these freak warm days every year now. Tomorrow it goes back to mild winter weather again, like mid to upper 40s, and rain every day this week. What a mess. I'd rather get snow. I think Saturday will be dry and close to as warm as today

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I went to the tv station's website to check weather and this breaking news I found very interesting. I wonder what's going on here? I think someone set these cars on fire, don't you?
http://www.wbaltv.com/article/cars-f...enter/30750212
When I read it was a dealership in Annapolis I immediately wondered if it was the one where we found a short bed '95 Chevy for my older son years ago listed, called and said we were on our way to buy it, left right away and drove the hour or more down there, and didn't see it anywhere. Talked to our salesman and he said another salesman just sold it. I'll tell you I was mad enough to burn the place down that day!. Well guess what? As I watched the video I realized it is the same place. I swear it wasn't me!

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I've been thinking about a container shop for a long time. I think two long ones on the side with a short one turned across the back, then roof truss the whole thing. Instant storage and thermal barrier all around.

I don't have enough room in the back for a big shop. My little town doesn't let me put it out front or I could use a bigger container or more to build a shop out of.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

Good idea. I've seen two placed with trusses spanning between. Those things are handy. I used to keep a 20 footer on townhouse jobs to stock siding for the guys. I cut a door into the side near the front to store smaller stuff in front of the siding. I'd hire a rollback to move it. Worked out really well.

With your arrangement, I don't see why you couldn't frame it out for garage doors

Re: My Facetruck thread.

So it was 65* yesterday when I started an 850 sf lvp job. All of it up stairs.
It was 32* this morning on my way to work when I hit not one but two bridges in a row with both of them being iced over going 70 mph. I’m fortunate that no one else was on the road and I was not hurt. The second bridge I crossed backwards until I hit the end of concrete barrier which spun me around and I ended up on my side.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

Oh damn. Sorry to hear this. This fickle weather/abrupt major changes is the pits. So, you came out unhurt? How did the van fare?

We're a day behind you. Today was our second 70* day. T-shirt weather. Tomorrow's high will be upper-40s to 50, and that will be the overnight temp. Through the day it will drop to low-30s with freezing rain tomorrow night

Re: My Facetruck thread.

It was the weirdest thing. Deputy sheriff told me that the ice was just in that area.. a narrow swath. No ice to the north and no indication from the south where I came from. I had my cruise control on. I felt like a hockey puck. On the other side of the highway someone hit the metal guardrail on one side of the highway, bounce off and hit the other side of the concrete bridge but kept on going.
I crawled out through the passenger door. All my tools were strewn about. I was fortunate that my tools didn’t get me.
My van didn’t fair so well. Something else that’s weird is that the linkage in the shifter is jammed. I drove it home after the tow truck righted the van. Had a hard time getting it in to drive.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I hope it doesn't take much to get it right. Am I right in thinking the material wasn't damaged?

I had a sweet '95 K3500 work truck I custom built. I flipped it on it's lid when I hit antifreeze on a curve going into a river valley. It was just like ice. There had literally just been an accident cleared there. I mean the county police and VFD Suburban were the first vehicles to come upon me heading back up from turning around at the river (county line). The truck had a utility bed that I had a custom tonneau cover made for out of truck tarp material. Table saw, compressor, radial arm saw, and a whole assortment of tools in cases. That tarp held them all and no tears. Tools and me survived, but the truck not so much.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I had the majority of the materials in the house climatizing. There were a few boxes in the van and less than a dozen planks edges damaged.
Tim recall reading your story awhile back. It’s not awesome riding a vehicle out upside down or sideways.
You had more to lose than me... I’ve never thought of my E-250 as sweet but, it got the job done and my van is my most important tool. Fortunately the place I’m subbing out is loaning me the use their van for as long as I need it. They told me I can use it for the other places I work out of too. Thats pretty cool.
