Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Took the truck to cruise night and decided to adjust the timing once again to try and get rid of this damn stumble on low speed driving. Now sitting at 12BTDC and will get my vacuum gauge to adjust the idle mixture this week hopefully.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Finally removed the dash pad for dyeing. Reinstalled the ignition switch. Removed some more PO wiring tangles. Mounted my door panel trim in preparation to mounting the door panels (powdercoated). Will be reinstalling the seat, seatbelts, ashtray, radio blockout. Removing the metal radio mount from under the dash. Probably going to a single, oil pressure only, gauge set-up. Slowly completing the interior. Soon will get back under the hood to correct some more wiring issues, then hit the road.

Washed and waxed everything. Powerwashed the undercarriage and engine and bed. Now I drive it and save up for some nefty goodies.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Bought some new Stainless Steel door sills with the chevy emblem on them to replace the chrome ones in there now that the passenger one is a bit rusty in one corner. Normally I would leave it but this year will be my first car show that I have a vehicle to enter and I want the truck as close to perfect as possible.

Here is a picture I found online of what it looks like.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I cut the right rear corner off the bed for a buddy to use on his truck, then took the torch to the bed bolts and took it off the frame, found out there is a serious rust problem, but hey, that's what makes it a project right.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

well for the last few days I have been doing body work inside the bed. and on it to get it finished where i am happy enough. I went and laid some paint this week and here is what so far I have come up with. dont mind as some of the paint is still wet but it gives a good look IMO I also will be spraying the center section gloss black in a few days. and dont mind I still have some minor body work to do.

Final prep for paint tailgate and hood. Got drivers' door half way there. Tomorrow paint. The next day 5 years and an unknown amount of hours and money will turn an obsession into reality

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Painted the firewall and inner fenders. Pressure washed it, scrubbed it and sprayed it all black. My buddy has a paint gun, and he had some extra black paint. I just bought a little paint thinner and taped her up... Not exactly a 100% attention to every little detail here, but I didn't want to pay a shop to do it.

Before, during and after pics ...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I pulled the cowl panel off getting ready to unbolt the front end. Cut the back bumper off and that later model bumper and push bar off. I removed the front panel from the rusty bed I pulled the other day, it is perfect. I'm gonna have to replace the back half of the frame it's swiss cheese. I did find a donor, just haven't got it yet, price is right trading scrap for scrap! You know what they say one man's junk is another man's treasure!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

The whole parking outside with the truck is bugging me so I picked up a truck cover today. Can't afford a garage this year but it's coming.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Adjusted the electric choke and dialed in the mixture screws. Found out they were not adjusted the same as recommended in the Holley manual and adjusted off a bit too.

Truck runs better, but still has a bit of a stumble when idling the truck down a street and trying to step on it. Not always there but it bugs me.

I may bump the timing back up as I have it at 12 and find it cranks way more before it starts, but up at 14-16 it fires right up. Used to be 20 and ran good.
