Re: GM Semis
Love that heavy wrecker.
This thread has been around so long I have to say this once in a while, I don't know if I've shown these yet or not. Maybe some and not others, but I wanted to present a nice group of similar Jimmys. If I grabbed some from here, thanks, here ya go again

Re: GM Semis
Great picture. Medium duty riding along. Yeah, if I don't remember posting I guess others might not either. And who's going back through 97 pages/2,400+ posts to check on me? If I went back to page 1 and looked through all those pages in one sitting I know I wouldn't remember what day it is
I know I showed some pictures of these mobile amusement ride Chevys, that bring back childhood memories. But I didn't show them all

Re: GM Semis
One more. Anyone remember these? I think these are the first Chevy 6s that planted the seed in me. The sound and the smell are deeply imbedded in me for life

Re: GM Semis
I am trying to find pictures of a traveling tent revival that was headquartered in Hollister, Missouri in the early fifties.
All the trucks were GM and the trucks and trailers were turquois in color. It was quite a site to see when they were all together.

I bet it was. I hope you can pull one up out of the depths. Kind of like a carnival on the road, only different
Nice pair. I enjoy saying that

Re: GM Semis
Cabovers take a little getting used to. Like an old van. Little sheet metal and some glass to protect you.

Photo I nabbed from Facebook a GMC with 2 headlights instead of 4 that you'd normally see and was owned by Yellow Freight

Re: GM Semis
We (Ryder) had a bunch of GMCs with 2 headlights as car carriers.

Re: GM Semis
Nice looking 9500. This would be a newer model, I would say about '76 or '77.

Re: GM Semis
I'd like to have that one right there. I'd drive it and sleep in it... to antique trucks and at antique truck shows, that is

Re: GM Semis
I can get close. That GMC in the background was a road tractor before we made a dump truck out of it.

Re: GM Semis
When you see the single low mounted headlights on a H/J model, it means that the truck is a '71 or later 'high-cab' version of the 9500. The cab was raised about 6" to clear the Detroit 8V-71 or Cummins NTC. Hood was taller to match the cab and give room for a larger radiator. GMC H/J trucks with gas, 6V-53, 6-71, Toroflow, Cat, and non-turbo Cummins kept the lower cab and hood with 4 headlights.

Re: GM Semis
X2! You really don't recognize the subtle changes manufactures do on there vehicles on a year to year basis unless you compare both together in the same photo.
