I have seen a few trucks & hot rods with the tail pipe routed under the rear axle tubes rather than over like typical. Is that possible with your ride height and suspension travel? It will definitely quiet things down if you can make a tailpipe out the back fit.

When I built my shorty with the Corvette front and rear I ran 3" under like a Corvette and it worked real well.

I'll have to see how under the axle might work

On another note, I drove it around a good bit running some errands and man is it nice! So smooth to drive, firm and tight steering, ABS brakes (I tried it), good- smooth acceleration. I can definitely say it will be a pleasure to drive, and I don't even have all the bugs worked out or rear side glass or even an interior. I really am stoked to have it completed.

I can relate! It was surreal driving inside an "older" truck body but on a modern chassis. It took me a couple of months before I started to take it for granted. Congratulations on making it to sea trials!

That's NOT the 2013 Silverado. That's the Cheyenne concept truck from 2003. And yes... it is kinda fugly.

So far, photos like this have been the most the public has seen of the 2014 Silverado.

Yep, I am in the same boat. I often take off in my truck and think " I need to take it easy on her" ... and then reality sets in and I remember, she ain't THAT old underneath. So, I also take it for granted sometimes.

An old truck body with modern goodies is a truck that will be loved, and used (often) I sometimes feel guilty that I am not running old school gear, but everytime i jump in it, she fires like a brand new one and I remember why it's like that.

After the truck is complete, the next step for Drew's truck needs to be a camper. Because NOTHING is cooler than an old truck yankin' a trailer. (especially to your fellow campground residents) My old Burb is well known at our favorite campgrounds.

Everything fits under the hood (now). I had to clearance a small piece of the hood brace for the brake booster. I'll touch it up later with some blue.

We looked at Airstreams... they are cool and I wanted one, but new ones are OUTRAGEOUS! AND the old ones dont have much room. With 3 kids, I HAD to have that big superslide. So, as is the theme with the Burb, I went with modern and practical instead of nostalgic and "less practical" haha.

Get 'er done by this summer and go campin' with us!
