Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

Ok Mike, and everyone on here, I need to hijack for a minute. I need some help. I really should start a build thread but I need to decide on a name for the thread (and the truck for that matter).

As you can see in my signature, I have a '71 Blazer. It's currently 4x4 but will be dropped on a shortened '72 short bed frame with (most likely) Dropmember C4 front suspension and a triangulated 4 link rear, all on air (shockwaves in front and tapered sleeves in the rear with Chris Alston billet adj shocks). The drive train will be '00 LS1 with a 4l65e (basically C5 Corvette) and 12 bolt posi. Since the suspension will be C4 and the drivetrain C5, I'm thinking of calling the build "Project C45 Blazer". What do you think? Any other suggestions?

The name of my matching '57 VW beetle is "Baby" from the color of the car and the truck will be the same colors. Any name suggestions?

How about "My Corvette Optioned Blazer" or "Blazette" or "Money Pit Blazer Bodied Vette" or "Pile of Parts Eventually Intended to be My Ultimate Ride Blazer/Corvette, Bumper Scraper, Spark Maker, Chick Magnet, Rice Rocket Roasting, Project Build Thread"

No matter what you call it, get it built.

notice you were running 6 lug wheels just wondering did you use adaptors or did you switch out for the proper rotor and if so what rotors did you use and did you use adaptors on the rear or switch out the axles?

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

I think the gold and white would be awesome and you don't see many 50th trucks that are really nice. I'm going to do my '68 stepside in Silver with red interior so I love that combo, as well.

Either way you have a sweet truck!

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

Unless you plan to blow on all the exterior paint,... in the same day,... under the same conditions,... I would never paint a truck silver.
Too hard to panel paint or repair,... and get it the EXACT same color.

I had a door ding in my last silver vehicle.
The body shop wanted to paint the entire side of the truck.
They said I wouldn't be happy with the results,... unless they did.
I no longer own a silver vehicle.

Look at the doors on this "high end" camaro on ebay.
I'm sure they had a top notch shop do the paint work.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

good fregging eyes Keith , having that same car im always looking on ebay at them , i was looking at that car and i did not notice, and yes, its very noticeable , yes silver its hard to match , i had my trunk lid repainted and a small spider web resurface on the corner of my roof , done by two different guys ,they were able to blend the roof whitouth having to paint the whole quarter or roof and you can not tell , but you need to find somebody really good ,

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

I think it depends on the paint that you choose.

this was a factory color (not gm) so its easy to get more and its not a custom mix. it really laid down well.

Trust you gut......It's got you this far......

Second guessing and trying to change it to what you think you like today will never let you finish. Stick to your plan and you will be driving it before you know it.

Great job so far.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

the GREAT !!!! thing about this site mike is the support, pictures, posts and ideas that all members quickly respond to when one is in need to do or make a decision , in my opinion, paint color followed by wheels are the biggest to choose , you are the one whos going to drive it and look at every day , so choose wisely what !!YOU!! like , good luck
