You re welcome, just thought i d pass along some interesting product data...
Sorry to read about some of your pitfalls in your build, but like the rest of us, it were easy, everyone would be doing it Sitting here on a rainy, chilly, saturday....heat cranked up. Man, i love my workshop!

Re: PO has me PO'd
Started to work on all my 12V switched (pink) wires to the OEM distribution block, when i was done i wanted it covered so no one hits it with a tool and shorts it out. So, i used a old regulater and took out the guts, just ground down the rivets, and it all popped out

Re: PO has me PO'd
With old cover, some day i ll paint it
20141101_205445 Another step closer...... Found out from FAST what the step1 step2 and step retard wires are for....something to do with the ignition while sitting at the christmas tree, sorta like lineloc, i was told. Since the only trees i will be seeing are pine, oak, maple, and a dogwood sometimes, i ve tucked them outa sight

Re: PO has me PO'd
OK, my brain hurts from the electrical system.....need a break, so i m going to work on the coil mounts, the OEM brackets are getting in the way every time i turn to the next part of the build. So, i m building my own sooner than latter, but i want to retain OEM chase
Pretty simple....1/4-20 set screws, drilled and tapped into the vertical aluminum piece, whichis drilled and tapped to the hoizontal mount on the v/c, with spacers on the coils to maintain proper offset. I ve also rotated the coil 90 degrees Coil mount is backwards, for clarity. But actually this is for number 7 cylinder 20141109_114511 20141109_114344 by james_jaros, on Flickr

Re: PO has me PO'd
Thanks Tully, the vertical piece is held on with 6-32's, not really trusting that. So, after i take a welding class i ll tig a fillet along that seam

Final variation of CNP using some of the OEM bracket and electrical chase. I can now go back and use my PCV and oil fill cap

Re: PO has me PO'd
Two steps forward, one step back.....poor planning on my part. BFH or speed bump?
Hard to tell from the pic., but, the snout of the coil is an 1/8" from firewall. Well, noone ever said it would be easy 20141220_175711 At least i m past the crank trigger, now on to the distrib. or at least what s left of it. Just using it for cam referance and to drive my oil pump 20141220_175839

Re: PO has me PO'd
Jim,
Couldn't you slide the coil pack towards the radiator on the valve cover rail to clear the firewall or would that put the coil packs to close together? Seeing what you are going thru is why when it comes time for my motor I will just stick with rebuilding the 307 lol. Richard

Re: PO has me PO'd
Its kinda hard to tell from the pics and all but maybe leave it in the same location but offset towards the intake? Don't mind me though just bored and thinking out loud even if not clearly
I am doing somewhat better. thanks for asking. I have my business moved back home now so that takes up a lot of the shop space but I am still collecting parts. Richard

Re: PO has me PO'd
Thanks JJ, your paint came out awesome, i think greys and silvers work the best on our trucks. Not to bad, only a month in paint prison
Back in the 70 s my Dad had a gun metal Chevy, really liked it then, still do When you re retired, every day is a Saturday.

Re: PO has me PO'd
With a combination of Richards idea of moving towards intake 1" and rotating to 80 degrees rear coil pack is mounted
Nice to have motorheads looking over your shoulder 20141222_114019 Used a holesaw on the drill press to bore a hole to mount K&N breather....careful with holesaws, they tend to grow from the designated size. Make a test touch on the aluminum and measure, this will be your final bore size

Are you running a cam trigger too, or is this a wasted spark setup?
