I may bump the timing back up as I have it at 12 and find it cranks way more before it starts, but up at 14-16 it fires right up. Used to be 20 and ran good.

It's at 16 now, adjusted the idle mixture ( was not adjusted properly) and adjusted the electric choke. So far so good. Haven't had much time to "test" it much the last few days.

16, do you find it runs really good at 16, I have mine at 8 and had the same issues at you under throttle, little drop off, little pop then she goes. I went from 6 to 8 and it got better but still there. Many have suggested 13 or so, so I need to try that...

anyways, drove the truck today and my son who is about to get his permit drove the truck for the first time today.... after all it will be his ride for high school His grin was worth every minute of it, even know he made me nervous. LOL . Then came home and finished touching up the wheel wells with black paint..

Hmm pulled the 350 crate motor out of the '72 Blazer. Just need to finish tearing apart my '72 Sierra and take the 402 BBC out of it and then put it in the Blazer

The truck originally was at 20 and ran pretty good other than that stumble. So now that the mixture and choke are adjusted, 16 is pretty good. I may go to 14 but I may also leave it like this once I can get a good test drive in.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

removed the original Manual transmission mount. removed rusted drip rails from the cab, and removed some wheel locks from the wheels-without a key. Good pair of vise grips and a small sledge did the job

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I made a gas cap. Well, I made it look a lil bit better. the gas cap i had was all chewed up and broken, so I decided to spruce it up a bit. I took an old glass door knob and drilled out the brass and threaded it to fit a bolt from the bolt bin. Then, i punched the guts out of the old cap. Jammed the knob into the cap and tightened the bolt down. Not super technical, but I think it looks cool.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Had the oil Changed, 4 Tranny Leaks fixed, Rear Tranny Tailshaft Seal replaced, and the Carb Rebuilt. Next week it goes into the shop to have the Lokar Billet Aluminum Gas Pedal and Throttle Cable installed.
Hopefully over the Summer I'm having a Satin Black paint put on it,
as what it has right now, is just a Generic Bumper Coat with no UV protection. I take a Layer off of it, each time I wash itr.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Slowly getting the 69 GMC K/1500 tore apart to get it down to a bare frame then replace back half of frame and fix everything thats wrong and get it painted and ready for my 72 Cab and the bed and front end and 327 out of my 67. It's amazing what you can come up with when you have alot of parts and no money!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I installed a brake booster, seat belts, accelerator pedal, seat, radio delete. Then when connecting the battery, horn starts blowing. Starting to take the steering area apart.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Refitted my fuel pipes to the carb along with my shiny new billet specialities fuel filter to replace the fire hazard glass one I fitted a few years back. I then took the water-pump off, cleaned it up, degreased it, and now its ready for a coat of POR15 Chevy orange paint tomorrow, I also cleaned up the front of the engine and may well paint that too whilst I have access, not the ideal way to do it piecemeal but it's going to be a while before the engine ever gets pulled out to paint it properly and frankly at the moment its damnned ugly. The chrome timing chain cover seems to be missing a couple of bolts that I need to find from somewhere and it need s a bit of de-rusting and a polish to make it look half reasonable. I picked out a spot to mount the derale electric fan controller I bought and realised I need to get a 1/2" NPt to 3/8" NPT reducer to fit the sender into the intake.

Tomorrow I shall be pulling the radiator out to clean it up and paint it, removing the small bodged on electric fan to replace it with a proper aluminium shroud (which I still need to make) and big electric fan from a Volvo T5. Then it all needs wiring up. After that I might just be ready to fill up all the fluids and fire her up!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I have a buddy that just built a new engine for his car and wanted me to rebuild his 600 holley for him. So after I got it rebuilt I pulled the carb off my mine and put his on there to make sure there was not going to be a issue when he fired his up to break in the cam and have to shut it down. It ran great on my truck.....well to good. It ran better then my carb does

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

finally bumped the timing up to 13... and wow what a difference in smoothness and sound of the motor.... I like it. Also measured for the stereo and speakers. Readjusted the idle fuel mixture too...
