Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

We made and sold jewelry all weekend long, so no truck work. Today I started making the trailer hitch/rear bumper/rear bed mount.
I trimmed about an inch off of the frame rails to make room for my 2 by 4 inch - 3/16 wall box tubing. I'll mount the 4 inch receiver tube to the bottom of this, extending forward about 10 inches to catch the next frame crossmember. Also I will weld some bumper mounts off the new frame tubing.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

We are trying to go to Africa for 3 weeks this summer and doing ANYTHING to raise support. My youngest, Sarah, came up with the idea to make and sell earrings and necklaces at her regional volleyball tournament.

Mission trip.
Actually, parts of Africa are absolutely incredible. Some of the best surfing in the world can be found there, and the Serengeti plains are AMAZING! But I've been there...and I'd choose the Carribean or the South Pacific myself now .

It will still be an amazing adventure none the less. I'm going to Ecuador in June on a mission trip myself.

Truck is still absolutely amazing Drew!

What part of Africa? I have been to Ghana and Kenya, both for missions. Go in the winter and you get to enjoy the summer south of the equator. Both were incredible trips, I don't think you can go wrong.

Still working on this bumper/hitch mount.
Pockets are for the rear bed mounts.
Welding is getting better from my first posts.

I can't tell what you are asking exactly since I can't hear the inflection in your voice. I'll answer both ways.

I am going to use my truck about everyday in my work, hauling insulation, lumber, trim, appliances, etc - nothing brutal though.

Man, I know, I am going to have to be really careful. If I scratch this thing, I'll be so bummed out.

Sorry about the wording. What I was getting at is I think that you have done an amazing job on the truck and it is something to be proud of. As far as my question as to how you are going to use the truck I was assuming that since it is now large enough to hold a family that you might have built it just for that, as a family vehicle. If you build something like that I think it should be used.....gently.... I drive a 71 truck as my daily driver and my wife drives a 72 Suburban as her daily driver. In fact before we had four kids my wife drove a 56 BelAir that was a fresh frame off restoration as her daily driver.
Keep up the good work!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

I finished up the hitch last night with stolen parts from a 2002 Suburban hitch and I'm painting it today before I put it on. I'll still need to fab and weld bumper brackets to it, but I'll touch that up later and not take it all down again.
I'm also painting my door glass divider bars while I have paint in the gun.

I am by far no expert but I think the metal that bolts to your frame on the hitch might be not thick enough , just comparing it to all of them that I see ?
