Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Coming along nicely.

What size drop springs are you using, I see it looks like front drop spindles, are those 2" rear drop blocks?

Are you using a wheel adapter in the rear? I'm looking for a decent brand adapter myself for my second set of rear wheels.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Spindles are ECE 2 1/2 drop conversion spindles ( 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton ) CPP 2 inch drop coils front and 4 inch in rear along with 2 inch blocks for a total of 4 1/2 front and 6 inch rear drop. Did not use wheel adapters in the rear. Swapped the 3/4 ton rear end with a 1/2 ton rear end. Bolt pattern is 5x5 front and rear

402 LS stroker motor is just about finished. If all goes well and the few odds and ends parts I need come on time the motor and trans should be set in the frame mid to late week this week

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

I like the burb, looks like factory red and a big block. Did I miss the picture of the SPID?

I need some big block accessories, interested in selling anything? Tried to send you a PM but you have them blocked.

He can't sell anything on here because he is not a "Premium" member. If he becomes a "premium" member he can then post the parts he wants to sell on the parts for sale forum. It is also against board rules to sell parts through PM's.

The motor and accessories look nice. I digg the look of a Chevy orange LS.

Thank you Joe. I hope the motor comes out like I have pictured it in my mind when it is finished. I'm disguising it as a big block.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Here is a pic of the coil covers. Sheet metal parts are starting to arrive so I'm going to focus on the body panels and once they are all finished I can install the fuel tank and plumb the motor. Cant wait to hear it run !!!

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Started working on the lower front quarter on the left side. Had to do a bit of fab work on the front portion of the wheel well. This weekend coming I hope to have the new panel fitted and welded in.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

The lower rear quarter and taillight housing are roughed in. A little more trimming here and there, plus some reconstruction work in the rear behind the taillight housing, and the backup light housing needs some attention. Should be welded up in a day or so and the driver side will be finished

More fab work today. The bucket for the backup light housing was in pretty bad shape but somehow I managed to save it

That looks really good. I enjoy making stuff like that if I have the time.

Inner rocker and some patch work in the middle are tacked in. A-Pillar has been installed so I can move on to fitment of the outer rocker

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

A small portion of the original rocker was still intact so I saved it and rebuilt that portion. Then I started to fit the truck rocker around it that the PO had already purchased for the vehicle to try and make it look somewhat factory
