Rear Sport Bumper Install

I'm trying to mount a chrome sport bumper on the rear of my 62 short fleetside 4x4... I feel I've done my homework, I've searched the data base, old parts manuals, vendor catalogs and I just don't see anything.. There are special brackets for 67-72 short 4x4's.. I was thinking maybe there was a extension like the Suburbans have? I bolted my rear bed sill on to see how far my bed would extend, the sill hangs over the rear of my frame and a little below the top rail. So I don't think an extension would work... Nothing looks modified or hacked... My frame isn't wider in the rear like the C models.. The only place I see to bolt anything is to the bottom section of the frame.. Has anyone ran into this? Should I just look for a 500lb wrap around dock bumper, a bunch of angle iron and a good welder??

Re: Rear Sport Bumper Install

My option step bumper had the brackets welded to it, flat plate. Had a "z" shape. I would use some cardboard for templates and hold bumper in sweet spot. The plates were bolted to outside frame.
