New User, would like some info

My name is Phillip. i have a 63 Chevy c-20 and a 62 GMC wrecker. I would like some info on how to get ahold of a grille guard, and how to lower a 62 gmc. (it has the torsion bar suspension.) thanks. this is by far one of the best forums on 60-66 chevy trucks and im very glad to be a part of it. forgot to mention that i just finished making the 63 roadworthy. drove it from nc to tennesee for the rod run without a problem. going to start building the gmc this winter.

Not sure about the grill guard but on the torsion bar suspension you should be able to adjust it (within its range of motion) to lower the front end. I have never done it, but have heard some folks talk about it. You might try Jollys gmc site it may have some info. Kieth

Re: New User, would like some info

areotruck 63 has an original grille guard on his truck if you want to see what one looks like, finding one? just have to get lucky at a junk yard or on ebay...

the torsion bars can be cranked down to lower your 62 a few inches, you can also buy dropped spindles 1/2 ton, and porterbuilt makes a drop member for the 60-62's as well....

Re: New User, would like some info

There's a difference in grille guards between Chevrolet and GMC.

1964 GMC Accessory. Bustin was the manufacturer, there website is in the photo.

1963 Chevrolet Featured Accessories. Luverne seems to have the same parts as the original, though they claim they did not manufacture it. Only came painted but I had mine chromed for my C10 and I'll straighten and paint the one for the K10. Found the first one in NY. state and the bent one at CTC Auto Ranch in Texas. Haven't seen a lot of them out there but I've seen a few on this site.

And I see you have the rare baseball bat option in the "63"

I love that '63. Of course I'm pretty partial to those. That wrecker is nice though too. Good on you for saving some parts from the crusher too. I don't like to see the ol' gals get parted out but it sure beats seeing them get crushed.
