Header question

What headers are you guys running in your squares? I picked up a set of hedman 69890's and a 20110 a/c bracket today. Now I'm second guessing myself thinking I should have got hookers.

Re: Header question

Everyone might have there own opinions on what I'm about to say but I have a set of Long Tube Jegs Headers, and truthfully headers are headers none are built any different other than the coating. Thats just my input.

Re: Header question

Tube size, runner length, restrictive bends, spark plug access/clearance and thicker flanges, there are diffenently a difference between quality headers and generics. Not sure who make Summits so they may be quality. The biggest thing MOST people need to worry about is flange thickness, spark plug access/clearance and coating. MOST cases the vehicle set up to the point that it would see a significant dfference in performance from the other factors.

Flange thickness - Huge advantage in sealing to the head.

Spark plug access/clearance - self explanatory, less aggrevation and longer plug wire life.

Finish quality - Face it MOST people install headers for the look not a real performance need, so the look and how long that look last matters.

I run Hooker Comps on the big Mopars and have had great luck lately with fit and finish from the Hedman Elites.

Never be afraid to buy quality, you'll be happier in the long run.

Here is my son's CJ with Elites on it AND yes these are strictly for looks.

Re: Header question

How long have they been run on the jeep? My truck has a 305 so I'm not doing it to increse power output. Mostly for looks and a better sound and not to mention one of the stock manifolds has a crack in it.

Re: Header question

9-10 months in total, 6 months of daily use. After the first week of checking the bolts to ensure they didn't loosen up, it has been leak free.
