Rearends
Does anyone know how much narrower an s10 rearend is as compared to a stock 64 rearend?

I know that a S-10 rear is 54.5" outside drum to drum. I have one in my shop.

No problem.
One thing to consider is that the s10 has metric brake lines an you would need to get a $2 adaptor at the auto parts store to connect the older standard line to the s10 T fitting. You can make the E-brake cable work too, if I remember correctly, you just need to drill out the backing plate hole a little larger. I had a friend that put a s10 rear in a 59 apache about 10years ago. He also put the front suspension on it too. It rode pretty good and sat pretty close to the ground in stock form. That 54" dimension is for a 2WD S-10. The 4WD rears are a few inches wider, maybe about 58". Most people putting S-10 frames under earlier trucks like AD usually go with the 4WD rear and still get the deep wheel look.
