Braking improvements?
My '73 K20 stops alright, but it could be better. I've been wanting to install some disc brakes in the rear and maybe even a hydroboost setup. The other day I had a bit of a panic stop, and I locked up the wheels and skidded on dry pavement for a ways. I didn't know my truck could do that.
 The question is, if I can already lock up the brakes if I want to, how is modifying the brake system going to make it stop faster?

Yeah it'll make you stop faster but you still may have to adjust how hard you bear down on the pedal. I'm going to be going with EBC brand slotted rotors and some of their red stuff pads. Combine that with stainless steel lines going to the caliper, and a lot of people report dramatically increased braking. A bit expensive though for the rotors. I think they're about $250 a pair. The pads are like $60, but they seat themselves (no need to break in) and they produce little to no brake dust. So your wheels will stay clean too. They say they produce a little, but it will never be there by the time you wash the truck so its pretty much like they don't produce any.

Make sure the stainless braided lines have DOT approval and keep any DOT certification paperwork with your title.
Your insurance company could leave you holding the bag for an entire accident if you use off-road lines or you can't show DOT approval. They look for any possible angle to not pay up and they are pros at finding angles in their favor. No need to hand them one on a silver platter.

Russel makes ss braided dot lines. Think they are about $75. I have them on my truck and the brakes are Definitly more responsive.

Hydroboost is night and day difference. I prefer that along with the braided lines already mentioned, and a decent pad on the front and that's all the stopping power I need.
