67 Shortwide Resto
Now that Im done with my Sons trucks I have decided to Restore a 67 Small Window Shortwide. Im thinking about painting it Arrival Blue Metalic and Silver but that could change between now and when its time to paint. The cab is a little ruff but not near as bad as the 69 I just finished. This thing needs inner and outer Rockers, lower door post on the drivers side, lower door skins, cups on the lower front part of the fenders and the bed is almost perfect. I need to do a little work to the tailgate, its dented in a few places. I am going to use the Original 327 that was in it that has 48K miles on it. I am going to put some Fast Burn Heads on it probably 64cc to liven it up a bit. Im thinking about putting a 700R4 in it to gain the benefits of the Overdrive. I already have the interior for it and the exhaust system was completed just before I broke it down. It already has Power Steering and Disc Brakes up front and has been lowered about 3 inches in the front and 2 in the back but im thinking it might need to go a little lower in the back because I want a level stance when its done. I picked up a great looking set of rims at a swap meet that were brand new and never were used. They are 18in wheels so all I need to do is get some rubber on them. I have so much of this truck ready to go that I hope it wont take long to get this one done. Anyway I will post some pictures of what it looks like right now.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Let's see a pic of the rims! What is Arrival Blue? Is that the dark blue GM color? What's going to be silver on the truck? What color is the interior?
Sorry for all the questions - getting ready to start a SWB myself. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Arrival Blue is kind of between a Medium Blue Metalic and Dark Blue Metalic, it was used on early 2000 SS pickups. Im sure it was used on other things but that is what I saw it on and I really like it. If you look at my latest build on my Oldest Sons Truck (My Oldest Sons Frankentruck) is how I think I am going to paint it but again it might change as i have seen some great looking paint jobs that are peaking my interests. The interior is Gray Pleather or Vinal, not really sure but I am putting in Buckets with a newer Chevy Center Councel that is a center seat but when you fold it down it converts to a cup holder and a hide away storage bin. I will post more pics soon.

I told my Sons that I want to do all the bodywork on this one so I can see how much I have advanced in my skills doing bodywork. This one is fairly clean with very few major problems. Hopefully I can get this thing done before winter sets in. JRBECK64 |

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
My Son has been hard at work welding and fabricating panels to replace the rusted inner Rockers and the lower door pillar on the drivers side. Here are a few pictures of the progress he's been making.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Have you ever noticed that when you need to get something done that a 1000 road blocks get thrown up in front of you? We need to make some serious tracks on this one. I want to be in bodywork by the week after next. Wanting and getting are two different things, im finding out.

LOL your killing me, Ive been down the last week passing a Kidney Stone (#75) sorry for the lack of pics and movement foreword but I think by this weekend I will be up to getting back to work on this thing. I need to replace one of the Cab Corners and then put the outer rockers on and I will be done with the cab. Then its on to welding a couple of holes in the bed and then its time for some bodywork. Im thinking that I am going to slow down a little because I want to really work on getting my Body Work skills down before I start Restoring my 67 GTO Convertible next summer. The panels on that thing are forever long and the compound curves are really tricky to get right without making it look like a wave factory. Thanks for the Kind words and NO ADOPTIONS HERE, Im already thinking about Restorations for my Grand Kids and the oldest one of them is just over 2 years old. That gives me a little time before I have to get one done for them. JRBECK64 |

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Dude we are going to have to buy you a kidney size sledge hammer to take care of those stones for you. Glad to hear you are doing better. Can't wait to see what your doing, but I will pass on pictures of you passing the kidney stone... If I want to see someone screaming in pain I will watch the SAW movie series... Glad your doing better.

Ive been kinda cleaning the shop the last week due to an accumulation of old rusted out parts laying around all over the place. My Wife told me its time to do a little Post 69 Long Fleet cleaning now that its residing at my Oldest Sons House. I am also running into space problems right now because I have my Youngest Sons 64 in the air because we are doing a Tranny Swap. We are installing a 700R4 because its reving way to high on the freeway. So the 67 is having to take a back seat right now but will within a week be back under Resto again. JRBECK64 |

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Today my Oldest Son and I put the drivers side Rocker Panel on. We also did some rust encapsulating on the cab. I still need to install the Passenger Side Rocker and a partial cab corner. I will take some pics tomorrow and post them.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Sorry its taken so long to post some pictures but my Wife ran off to Phoenix AZ to visit the Grandkids and Hiested my Camera. So here are a few pictures of the forward Progress we have made. We got both of the Rockers and a cab corner installed. We still need to do some welding on the cab corner and my Son has to do some creative welding because I cut the patch on the cab corner a little to small for the hole we cut. Anyway he is tallented enough to get the job done. Im really proud of my Oldest Son as he has picked up the welding stinger since my Youngest started college and doesn't have as much time to play with the trucks. He's really stepped up and is doing a great job. Here are the pictures I promiced.
I warped the heck out of the bed in the back were I was putting in the patch so I am going to cut the patch back out and see if it will go back to its original state. So what I may do is glue a patch to the backside of it. I will keep you posted. I will try to keep you up to speed on any forward progress. JRBECK64 Last edited by JRBECK64; 01-14-2011 at 12:54 PM. |
