New project : 72 Suburban
New winter project arrived today. 72 C-20 Suburban 402/400 factory ac front and rear. Has the usual rocker rot and bottoms of quarters but nothing major that cant be fixed fairly easy. Floors and frame are in pretty good shape overall. Will post pics of my progress when I can

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
As much as I like LS motors, in my mind, they don't hold a candle to a good running Big Block.
Anyway, in for the details

That Burb looks fairly well loaded.
I'll follow along for the bodywork and LS swap.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
402/400 pulled out and power washed frame. This week will work on disassembling suspension for the 1/2 ton conversion and static drop, plus get some paint on the frame

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Frame looks great.
I see all the undercoat and dirt on your shop floor, how much time did you spend cleaning it? What was your tool of choice?I'm doing the same, I've been spending an hour a day when I can stripping mine and I figure I'll need many more days stripping it.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
I got some bildge cleaner from a friend that is a tug boat captian. Putty knife, scrapper, scotch bright pad wire wheel and whatever else I could find. One piece of advice is put plastic or a tarp on the floor first. I will be cleaning the floor for a while

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
The 2 front wheels and tires came for the Suburban the other day ( Ridler 650 Gray center polished lip 20x8.5 Nitto NT555G2 245/45/20) Brake booster, master cylinder, front brake lines, and A-arms installed. Drop conversion spindles should be here tomorrow so I can get the front end buttoned up and move on to the rear

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Just an update for everyone following my build, I started on the C-notch in the rear and have the passenger side completed. Since this is my first one I did not document that side but I will on the driver side. I'm returning to work tomorrow after a 3 month layoff bc of surgery I had in August so my posts wont be as frequent as they have been the past month. Thank you all for following along and for all of your help and support with this build. I will update my progress when I can

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Got the Suburban back down on all 4's. Next step is to install motor and trans mounts. The machine shop is going to have the 6.0 block finished next week so I hope if all goes well when I go on vacation in 2 weeks the motor and trans will be in the frame
