Just jack her up remove the tire and all the bolts are there? I can get inner fenders here locally for 40 bucks each. Mine are ratty looking and that plate is rusted through that has the three bolts on it.

Just remove the jack etc attached to it from the inside under the hood, the fender itself doesn't have to come does it?

Removing the tire and wheel is not necessary, but it does make it easier and gives you more room to work with. But yes, a dozen or so bolts and remove washer bottle and battery tray and jack hardware and such and you're all done.

Randy is right. All you have to do, is remove any accessories on the top end. Then just remove all the bolts. Most of them are 1/2" but the two that bolt to the cab are 9/16". I would suggest saturating the bolts with WD-40 the day before. It will make life easier.

One of two things will happen when you get the last of the bolts out. It will either simply fall out, or you will feel like you're wrestling a square peg through a round hole.

PB will work for freeing up the bolts better than WD40, it will soak in better and not evaporate away. You're more worried about not chewing the threads up on the bolts or the weld nuts on the cab/fender. If you have a thread cleaner you'll want to run that in the weld nuts for sure before reassembly. I know the old saying a cross thread is better than locktite, but I'm never lucky enough to have a cross threaded bolt run all the way in. It will either get stuck 1/2 way out or snap the head once it is almost all the way in.

I did mine in the 78
painted them semi gloss tremclad before installing them
sure looks nice/clean now

Tape the edge of the fender too to avoid scratching up your inner fenders when you re-install

Should I sand down the inner fender before spraying it? I think if I leave it as is, they'll oxidize won't they? They have a satin black look to them right now.

Use a #0 scuff pad, wipe it down with wax and grease remover and shoot it.

I sanded mine down abit before painting,wiped off with thinner,sprayed

i use the lucas oil tool box buddy on my bolts, stuff works better then wd40 in my book, il pay a little more for the tool box budy spray as it works alot better
