Under stake post tie-downs

Ok I am sure I am not the only one, but I prefer to secure things in my bed using the holes in the bottom of the bed stake holes. I haven't thought to put anything in them to add an eye or additional attachment point, as that would block the drainage.

Anyone else do this or have something they did for extra attachment points?

These hold downs were on my 68 when I got it,I don't think they were a factory option, but some one was quite resourceful in making them. They're not attached to the bottom of the stake bed holes either. As for using the bottom holes for mounting you can drill an extra smaller hole off to the side for drainage.

Glad you mentioned about drainage . I have eyebolts in the bottom hole in mine. Never even thought about drainage. Now I have something else to think about.
...never mind. Just checked , mine have small drain holes in the corner of the tube.

I actually like those. Your right, quite resourceful. Something like that would look good made from stainless steel. Hmm..

I made 4 of these, and a tire mount. Other possibilities mount eye bolts on the sides of the stake pockets

No pictures handy, but I installed 4 anchors that are identical to what you'd find in a newer F150. I mounted them to the floor, one in each corner, with a fender washer on the bottom side. They were a perfect fit for some ratchet straps to secure 600lbs worth of truck axle I picked up last week.

I like those. I like that they are adjustable. You can slide the eye up or down as needed. I use that type of channel at work. pain in the a** to work with. I hate assembling guards and stuff with it, kind of like an erector set. I much prefer welding square tube steel.

Never worked with it before, Couldn't pass it it up, 100" piece, enough for 5 pieces. $ 8.00 at the junk yard, stainless hardware was 3x that and then throw in a bunch of time.
