Need advice on larger tires for my 70 c10

This weekend I'm going to get new tires. My truck is stock 1970 C10 fleetside and nothing special besides me paying an even $200 for it with a full tank of gas lol. It's Rusty but runs like a champ. The tires on it right now are 235/75R16 and the spair is a 235/85R16 facepalm. I know the spair fits as that was what was on it when I got it lol. I'm wanting to go larger much larger and wider. I had been eyeballing some 265/75R16 but don't know if thy would fit or if I could go even larger. I'm running the stock rims as I got like 6 of them and thy match the truck. So any help would be great and very appreciated. Thank you very much

I have some 275 55 r20... I had to add 1.5" spacers so they wouldn't rub the front.

You could go wider, especially if your rims stick out like they should. I'm not a tire guy, this setup just worked for me

With out the spacer how bad was the rubbing. Was it just while turning sharp?
My tires right now are 30" tall and 9.25" wide. And there looks to be oddles of room around them considering the tire I want is 31.6" tall and 10.4" wide.

no spacers at all ... the rears were stuck onto the bed frame
the fronts rubbed anything more than 1 turn of wheel (my wheel turns 1.5-2 turns i think).

The adapters were only $102 shipped from ebay for 1.5" ... but they make a 2" as well (for 6 lug 7/16 - which is what I got)

What's the back spacing on your wheels. I'm stock so I think I'm at 4" I can feel about a 2" gap or more between my current tire and the truck so with my current wheels adding just over an inch would not be a problem.

Re: Need advice on larger tires for my 70 c10

Currently my 69 short step has the original 15x7 wheels off my Jimmy on it with 265 75 15 radials on it. They don't rub anywhere but the bed if you take a corner faster than the truck wnts to corner...

Next week it gets a 5 lug swap and 4.5"/6" lowering job along with 235 55 17 fronts on 17x8 wheels and 275 55 17 rears on 17x 9 wheels. I've done my best math so I hope this all fits...

Re: Need advice on larger tires for my 70 c10

Here's what I did, on Ebay, I purchased a set of Take Off Wheels - 17" Chevrolet Suburban, Avalanche, Tahoe - Hollander Number 5299 and then put Michelin LTX M/S2 P245/70R17 on them. Looks nice. I did not use the Wheel Centers as they are kind of funky and you have plastic covering the lug nuts and can't tighten them very well. I will look for a center insert to fit once I take the time to measure the width of the hole and figure out what's needed (Flat insert or one that sticks out) since I'm upgrading the suspension. I did put on 1.5" spacers so that the wheels line up correctly. The offset is definitely different than the original wheels.
