Loose "D49" sport mirrors

Amongst all the new parts I bought from Chevy Duty (formally) last fall are a pair of new OEM D49 dual bright mirrors. they look & fit great of course. The problem is ,every time you close the doors or barely touch em, they go way out of adjustment.

A buddy of mine had the same problem with his Camaro mirrors & suggested J-B Weld. I tried it, it worked for a few days.

I got agrivated & called "Chevy Duty" , they said its the first complaint they heard & the best they could do is send another set at a discount price. They would do an exchange cause I J-B Welded them.

So, my new set arrived, I dont think these are any better. Has anyone else run into this problem ?
Included is a pic so you can see what mirrors I have. I spent 64 bucks a piece for these things.

Don't you have like a 74 or 75? I thought those mirrors came stock?

Do you mean the MIRROR actually goes out of whack when you shut your door...like where the adjustment pivot is? If it's what I'm thinking, I'd try putting as much thick grease as you can in the pivot ball area...on my stock "sport" mirrors it's pretty damn hard to adjust them, so if yours are really easy to move around, that may be the problem...in fact, I can't even adjust them with one hand, it takes two...so if you can adjust them with one hand, they're too loose.
EDIT: Is it coming loose on the part I have circled in red?

yep exactly. Mine had Camaro mirrors on it when I bought it.

Hmmm? If yours are loose, I don't think putting heavy grease is going to help. I understand the concept is to use the thick viscosity of the grease to help hold them in place. I think once the sun hits them any ability to stay put provided by the grease will go away pretty quickly.

If you want them to stay in one spot and not be adjustable, you might try cleaning them good with alcohol, then put a bead of clear silicon around the base of the ball. That should hold them better than the JB weld...

That's definately poor quality workmanship, because the tolerance of that pivot point have to be JUST SO, which means the difference between nice and snug (like it's supposed to be) or sloppy and loose (like yours is)

take a punch and make several indentions in the area were the mirror pivots on the ball
