New member saying "Hi"

Hi everyone. So my story is that I owned a 64 Chevy 1 ton long bed step side (292, 4 speed manual) in the mid-90's. It was a passed down work truck--I eventually sold it after I was done using it for hauling, as I wasn't interested in having a long bed.

Last week I finally realized my dream of getting another 64. Lots has already been done, although there is a lot to still do.

Man that is a beautiful truck. It appears to be done but your post leads me to ask: What are your plans for it?

Plans

It has a pinhole leak in the radiator, seeping around the high pressure power steering hose (at one crimp), something in the 700R4 tranny that is causing the lockup to not disengage when coming to a stop when hot (causes it to stall, doesn't happen in third gear, and I've had two folks tell me there is a problem valve body in the tranny), and some noise coming from one of the four speakers. Oh, and the front windshield leaks (brand new windshield, wasn't sealed correctly on install is my guess). I plan to either fix those (or have those fixed--transmission work is above my pay grade). There is also some funkiness with the Dolphin speedometer (maybe a bad ground--I'll post on that later), and the horn stopped working driving it back home. The wipers were also messed up--I've already fixed that.

Then, the fun stuff. I am installing 3 point (lap/shoulder) belts using a kit that includes a reinforced B-pillar anchor. I am thinking of lowering it some, and would like a front sway bar. The seat is too thick, so I am going to take it to a tuck and roll place and see if they can carve out the foam on the driver's side. It needs mirrors (I put some 4" peeps on it, but the passenger side one is no bueno), better headlights, and maybe power mirrors/door locks.

I welcome any ideas, and if anyone is in the Portland, Oregon area that has shop recommendations, please pass them on.

Thanks for the nice comments.

Scott
