Re: Factory rear sliding window and ss trim

I have read some posts that the slider windows were installed after the truck rolled off and out of the assembly line. So if the truck had SS back window trim, then it had SS after the slider was installed.

Or I am pretty sure that is what I have read and how I want to deal with my 72 Cheyenne - that is if I ever find a darn factory rear sliding window to even install!

This is the post that I was referring to: Factory Sliding Window?
So it seems the consensus is for 67~72, no SS Trim even for Cheyenne Super (Slider A28 RPO code)

The tread is worth a full read.

Re: Factory rear sliding window and ss trim

I’m very confident that factory sliders didn’t get rear window trim from the factory. Some add it on but it wasn’t factory.

Re: Factory rear sliding window and ss trim

correct, no ss trim, period. And to be clear, the the answer has nothing to do with trim level - a rear slider could be ordered on a base Custom or a loaded Cheyenne Super. Here's the original slider on my 72 super - it is a factory installed RPO A28 slider, no ss trim.

Re: Factory rear sliding window and ss trim

My current truck is a Custom Deluxe, from what I understand included front and rear SS trim. Front trim is present. Also had slider listed on SPID. Which was in truck and while damaged appears to be original. There was no SS trim on rear window. One easy telltale for OEM is sliders are not welded at lower corners.

Re: Factory rear sliding window and ss trim

Below is a link to Chevyland's post of his Super in the "Post a real Cheyenne Super only (aka the defiinitive Cheyenne Super thread)!". It has the Slider listed in the SPID and there is SS trim. Of the photos where the back window is shown that is the only example with Slider listing in SPID with SS Trim.

Makes me wonder, fluke or added after...

After looking at all the sliders without SS trim and Chevyland's with SS trim, I am starting to think without looks better with the aluminum A28 Slider window.

Here’s one of mine. 72 K20 Cheyenne, Slider is on the spid. Trim is present on the windshield.
