has anyone talked to Dave Ray Lately?

I sent him my distributor and a money order back in mid June. The last contact I had with him was June 27. I have sent 5 or 6 emails with no answer. I called him yesterday got a voice mail and still no return call. So I guess I'm asking has anyone else ever had this problem or has anyone talked to him?

Re: has anyone talked to Dave Ray Lately?

Don't know the guy but a word of advise. When dealing with business'(assuming he has a legitimate business) out of state stay away from any that don't take credit cards and demand money orders, you have very little to no recourse in those instances.

Re: has anyone talked to Dave Ray Lately?

Same story here, sent him my distributor on June 26th along with payment. Have not received a response to the multiple emails or messages I've left. According to what I've read on other forums, a 6-8 month turnaround has been the norm lately.

Re: has anyone talked to Dave Ray Lately?

I had Dave build me a dizzy about 2 years ago and had the same issue. He finally got back to me after many E-mails and phone calls. He said he was very busy... I will say that he does top notch work and My Dyno guy was very impressed with his work..

Doesn't matter how busy he is he should still reply to people when he has their money....

Just my 2¢ worth....

Not the way to do business, I wouldn't feel warm and cozy. But what ever floats their boat I guess.

I'll never understand guys who take on new work knowing they are so busy it will take them weeks or months then wonder why they have to avoid the phone because people are wondering where their stuff is. If it's going to be weeks or worse let the consumer know before so they are aware of the wait time. Happens far too often in the custom or classic auto world. I know of guys who waited so long for stuff they simply forgot about it or went other routes. Machine shops are amongs the worst for this in my area.

Mid June! You do realize this is October and you can't even get a reply.

I don't think for one minute he's going to stiff you but this "no replies, no results for months" is total BS. I occasionally run short on some parts and I won't take anyones money during that time, and I'm only out of stock for a week or so, doing so is a recipe for disaster.

Re: has anyone talked to Dave Ray Lately?

Haha !!!!!!!! But really that's why I'm not being ugly because it wouldn't be cool to say something bad about him and something bad really did happened to him. That's why I started this thread to see if anyone had any info on him. But then again you would think his voice mail would be full or no phone service.

If you are not needing it yet I guess I would just wait it out, or get a good used one temporarily. The small divorced coil ones are a little harder to find but they are around.

Good luck

Note to self don't ask questions on here that you expect a reasonable answer to. On the topic at hand I hope you at least get some answers or a refund.

How can he get a specific answer if no one reads the thread that has dealt with the person he asked about????? I had never heard of the guy and I have been on here since 2006.

I was referring to responses that have little to nothing to do with the actual question

Re: has anyone talked to Dave Ray Lately?

He rebuilt a distributor for me about 2 years ago. Sent him a u s postal money order in advance took to long then got a email from a truck driving friend of his that said he was in the hospital and he was going to be helping him with the distributors when he got out. Finally got it. Was good work .
He was emailing why he was in the hospital just not to me. Answering ? On this site. I found him on another site where he claimed he got shot in a convenience store and he talked about how tough he was.
In my personal opinion I think he's full of ****.

Re: has anyone talked to Dave Ray Lately?

I got one from him last year. Took a few months, didn't respond to emails or calls either until I kept calling for a couple weeks. Good work though. I think it helped when I left a voicemail with my name, where i was from and when I sent the distrib. He probably gets a lot of calls and anything to help him remember who is calling is probably good since he isn;t good at managing customer service.
