If you are going to cut one of the tops, I would do it to the '73 top. GM changed the tops for '75 to help prevent cracking on the back. For '73--74, the seams for the inner and outer shells are lined up with each other. For the '75 and newer trucks the seam on the inside shell was moved to the middle of the rear window and the outer seams stayed near the upper corners.

That's interesting...I had no idea. I'll have to compare the two at some point. I still think I'd cut the '75 top though as it is pretty crusty and has what I believe is moss growing on it.
I just took it out to where I store my junk over the weekend so it won't be getting any attention for a month at least when I'm hoping my current project(s) will be complete. I did purchase a small lift for it though so I'll be ready to work on it when I have a spot open in the garage for it.
