Cable vs. Linkage Operated Shifters

So I'm in the market for a new shifter for my '71 C10. I tried Googling an answer, but I couldn't seem to find much pertaining to C10's and TH350's, but I want to ask you guys about and pros/cons between cable operated and linkage operated shifters. I plan on taking my truck out to the strip a few times here and there just to mess around, but it won't be a hardcore drag truck or race car. Daily driven, SB350 putting out about 400-450 HP. I love the Lokar Nostalgia series double bend shifters (mostly for the rat rod feel), but I have no idea which setup would be right for my application. Any knowledge and/or opinions, or even other suggestions are greatly appreciated!
