intake manifold gasket

hey everyone. i've got a 292 that needs a new intake gasket. other than the rusted bolts is it a pretty easy project? thanks for any info.

It usually is not a problem but can be. Often if a 292 has been run hard the ex. manifold will be warped. If it is you will have a hard time getting it back on. If the gasket between the manifolds is OK dont try to separate them because more then likely you will break the studs & bolt. If it has the laminated gasket on it know (it has a thin steel gasket on the ex ports & a different material on the intake) then you will have to separate them as you can not buy that kind anymore. The bolts should come out ok but I always replace them with grade 8 & flat washers.

rusted bolts hate PB'laster. We call it bust'a nut around my house. works friggen miracles

Need step tail gate and bed front, driver door, both front fenders (both are bondo'd nightmares). can trade fleetside bed parts real straight (except sides) or pay some cash (i am pretty broke)

thanks for the info wrenchbender ret, i will put it to good use. probably a stupid question but how can you tell if the gasket between the manifolds are bad? and i got the bolts soakin' in pb now thanks stubbs67!

exhaust gasket you'll know it,, it'll tick like a lifter most times,

intake spray carb cleaner around the gasket area, if the rpm changes you got a leak,,
(i use a pumbers torch bottle ,but some thing thats unsafe)
