Throttle Linkage - '63 with smallblock

I am looking for the bolt/nut size circled in the attached picture - I've realized my throttle isn't fully opening, and I am missing that bolt - hoping to get that slack fixed with a bolt in there and adjust it from there.

Any help would be appreciated!

Looked to be 3/16" Sure your linkage is hooked to right hole on carb?

I'm pretty sure it is but I'll take another look (and maybe a couple pictures) after work, thanks for the pic!

Re: Throttle Linkage - '63 with smallblock

The bolt helped a lot and took out a ton of slack, but I don't think I am getting full throttle still and the secondaries aren't opening on the 4 barrel.

Are there any tricks besides shortening the rod going to the carb? If I tighten it any more, it seems to mess with the idle, and the angle it's at is a bit scary.

Heres a good thread on the throttle linkage.....there are several variants of the cab mount itself also. Although it looks that you have the correct one for a sb v8

Thank you for that info! I actually just grabbed that picture off of the internet, I will try and post up a picture of mine tonight. Knowing the guy who put the truck together, I'm wondering if I need a longer "arm" off the gas pedal.

Alright here's what I'm working with. The angle you see is Peru close to straight, and if I shorten the rod any more I'm worried about it binding. Is there anything I'm missing here?

Re: Throttle Linkage - '63 with smallblock

Well two things the link/rod to the carb is to short and it should be very close to horizontal and the "arm" that you put the bolt in should be much closer to vertical then it is .... then it will work fine

Ok, I am going to try and adjust it further tonight now that I have the bolt in there. Thanks for that!

I wouldn't say that I NEED it, in fact I rarely get a chance to get out of traffic here, but if you've got it why not have the ability to use it every once in a while?

Re: Throttle Linkage - '63 with smallblock

Want to thank everyone for their contributions to this thread. Here's a VERY rough draft, I've got to shorten the rod a hair and fix the return springs but I took it out and it's much quicker!
