New Guy and C-30's
I joined this because I'm looking for short 1 ton just to pull my boat and drive while its nasty or rough roads. I have seen very few of the short C-30's and was wondering how many were made. Thanks for the help.

Re: New Guy and C-30's
I think he`s refering to the 60" cab to axle(like tow trucks and 10' flatbeds) vs 84" cab to axle(like 12' flatbeds).

Re: New Guy and C-30's
the short one ton would be the 133 inch wheel base... either a 8 1/2 foot fleet bed, or a 9 foot step side... or a cab/chassis . The long one tons were 157 inch wheel base, and never came with a pick up bed.

Re: New Guy and C-30's
Yeah, what he said.I just go off the CA measurement on cab`n`chassis cuz that`s what you go by for the bodies/beds.

Re: New Guy and C-30's
I know that there was not a "short bed" I meant a short wheel b. lots of long trucks around. I found a 68? from the road but "she" said it was not 4 sale. Thought about putting a cab and front clip on a later model, DISK BRAKES, DROP SPINDLES, LOTS OF PARTS, ETC.

Re: New Guy and C-30's
Theres a truck nearby. It's got a 71 or 72 front end, and I think the bed is like for a trash bin. It has like 2 forks on it. The bed is short. Maybe even a shortbed short. If that makes sense. I will try to get a pic in the next couple of days. It is a dually truck.

Re: New Guy and C-30's
Could take a 1/2 ton 4x4 SWB, put 1 ton axles under it, and stick C30 badges on it?

Re: New Guy and C-30's
Does anyone make a wirring harness adp. for a later model chassis to a 67-72 cab? Heres the deal, it would be to hard to find a short 71-72 1 ton, even harder to find the stuff to lower it. So I'll take the newer frame, use older cab and front clip. Kinda rat rod style. Looks do not matter just something to pull my jet boat to the lake with. Parts for the chassis should be easy to find, not sure but I bet 73- 88 or so are real close. Thanks for all the info.

Re: New Guy and C-30's
OK, GM never made one. A short bed... 6 1/2 foot bed, ONLY came on 1/2 ton trucks.
If you wanted a 3/4 ton, you got an 8 foot bed, an 8 1/2 foot bed, or no bed. There were also no 3/4 ton trucks built in a cab/chassis model, with a 115 inch wheel base. One tons, didn't come any shorter than 133 inch wheel base. One tons never came with a bed, if it had daul rear wheels. So these trucks you guys are seeing, are custom conversions. A true one ton frame is taller, and much heavier than a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton frame. So adding one ton suspention on a limp frame, would be kinda pointles. |
