Painting the cab
I am getting pretty close to painting the cab. I have to finish final sanding and then I plan to seal everything with a thinned epoxy (eastwood) followed by single stage paint. As I am doing the entire cab inside and out the same color, should I paint it in stages (inside first, let it dry, then outside)? Or should I do the entire thing all at once?
Thanks, Clay

Re: Painting the cab
I would definitely break it up in stages. Paint the inside. Then back mask and seal the window openings and door jams, at the pinch welds.

Re: Painting the cab
That makes sense. Would it be better to only seal the inside, paint that, back tape the cab and then repeat for the outside? IOW, only seal what I am painting at that time?

Re: Painting the cab
Yes, generally you let the sealer flash then then go right to paint. The tech sheet should give you the specs for that. Depending on the product, you will have a window by when you need to start spraying the top coat by. Or, you will need to re-sand the sealer, and start over.

Re: Painting the cab
As said above interior first and then back mask. Then the outside. That way you won't be dragging an air hose across new paint to get at the interior.

Re: Painting the cab
What color are you painting it ?
Are you also using Eastwood single stage paint. If not, I would recommend using that paint manufacturers sealer. |
