Anyone used these bolt in c-notches?

I bought the "heavy duty" bolt in c-notches from POL a while back and just got around to putting them on. Towards the front of the truck they sit just right but towards the rear they do not sit flush with the frame. Anyone else experienced this? Pretty sure my frame is square. Should I just go at them with the BFH?

How do they fit if you swap sides? Kind of looks like you might have the rears facing the front from looking at the picture. Turn around and swap sides and see how they fit. They should fit very snug. I had the ones from the CPP kit.

Pretty sure they are facing the correct way as there is a locating hole that sits over a rivet towards the front but I'll try flipping them anyway when I get home today.

I haven't seen them that far off. Is there any burrs, or weird stuff going on with your frame rail that's stopping it from sitting flush?

Hmm I don't think there was but I'll double check that when I get home as well.

Just got home. My CPP have a side and bottom but not top like yours. Regardless it should be flush!

They can't be the right ones there is no support for the lower rail part.

Looks like he got a two piece kit and was just sizing it up. The sides and bottom sandwich with the top plate. My CPP was a one piece with no top.

Sorry about the double post, the bottom plate touches the frame and the top bolts over the bottom piece? Is that the gap issue? The difference without the bottom attached?

Well they are definitely on the correct sides and facing the correct direction and there is nothing on the frame they are hitting.

Yes this is the two piece kit linked above but as far as I can tell by looking at the picture on their site the top piece is supposed to be flush with the frame and then the bottom piece sits over the top piece so that is not the issue either.

They are listed as being for 63-72. I looked around online and I think the frame rails are the same for all those years, at least at the back portion of the truck?

Not sure what the issue could be at this point other than that they simply were not made with the correct angles. Maybe I am missing some necessary step, no instructions were included. Either way I guess I'll have to contact POL....

I have a set on my truck and have installed 2 others. all 3 had some sort of a gap but once i drilled and installed it, it all pulled together real nice. I called POL to ask about the gap on the first one. they put me in contact with their lead tech and he explained how their built and that all the frames could have minor differences or tweaks. I have now installed 3 total and all have worked out in the end. Here is a pic of the one I just finished.

My porterbuilt bolt in notch had very minor gaps as well. Pulled in with the bolts. I guess if it was slightly more than that you could use a ratchet strap to pull them in a little.

I clamped them in place with vise grips and drilled holes

Thanks a lot for the info. My first thought as well was that the bolts would pull it in or that I could pull the plate in somehow else if needed but I wanted to be sure that would work out the way I thought it would before I started drilling holes.

Since a couple people mentioned they had been looking into purchasing these I will update this thread.

Firstly I did go ahead and install these this past week. They did work out in the end but they required quite a bit of messing with to get them to line up properly. If you are going to install these you better have some strong clamps of some sort around to hold/bend these tight to the frame while you drill the holes. After bolting down the front section that did sit flush the gap got even larger at the back portion and this being fairly strong metal made it pretty difficult to pull it far enough in to drill the holes. I would not classify these as falling into the minor differences or tweaks between frames that Hottweelz951 was told of by the POL tech and after some more measuring I can say for sure that my frame is square and straight. I am not sure why then there was so much of a gap, maybe my set just had a quality control issue.

The second thing I want to mention is that I never heard back from POL after contacting them around the time I made this thread. I have liked all the products I purchased from them in the past so I'll probably look past it but the product and customer service this time around were not as I would have hoped.

I noticed the same with mine from POL. But just snugged everything down and it came out ok.

I am experiencing this same problem. I have been on the phone the last few days with performance online. The last I heard they told me not to cut out the notch they are checking things on there end and will get back to me.

Looks like several of you that posted pics are running leaf springs. I've got a 68 GMC with leafs. Looking some recommendations on dropped leafs or doing a flip kit. Any input?

I have a DJM flip kit with new stock leaf springs ready to install after c notch is figured out. Removed my traction bars installing Cal Tracs. Hopefully the c notch will be the only hiccup.

After looking at some of the other pics you guys posted I am convinced that the c notch that was sold to me is wrong. This is made to be located on a frame rivet on top side of the frame and I can see it is correct on your pics but on mine if I center the notch in the correct spot above my axle and matching the bend of frame the rivet matches up with a small hole that it intended to be used for a bolt and the large hole in there plate is on a flat spot of frame not near the rivet I called performance online again and they are suggesting that I go with the 1 piece notch that they offer. I gave them the ok but currently waiting on how we will do the exchange on there end. I am hoping we can make this quick so I can get back on the road.
