The Wrong Bed C10 build
So I'm starting on a refresh and overhaul of my 1969 Chevy C10. The wrong bed C10 as it become known as. I got the truck 8 years ago as my first C10. I'm the third owner of the truck that was a 37,000 mi when I got it. An original survivor 307 three on the tree truck during my time of ownership I built a 355 small block it's got a super t10 in it put a posi under it and track down vintage speed parts to give it a real day 2 shop truck look. I've used the truck in this manner for quite some time now and we're going to keep with the 70 Street machine push truck vibe but I've deciding on lowering it I'm putting together a fresh 355 a little rowdier. Adding a tremec or a Richmond transmission and probably doing an air conditioning conversion as well as some rust repair while keeping it a period correct looking Street machine. Hopefully you guys will like the build it's a little different than the normal.

What's not to like? Super clean truck man. What method do you plan to use when lowering? Lovin' the camper too!
I'm guessing a repaint took place at some point? Sherlock here was wondering where the mounting holes went for the mirrors...

Thanks I'm going to do a 3-in spring in the front and a 2 inch block in the rear. that way I can keep the 33s out back and it keeps that 70s stance Yeah it was repainted once in 74 with the original owner front fender was replaced on the driver side and then I just buffed out that paint job. 2 years ago it's spent most of its life in the basement of a peach farm Barn until about 97 and then my buddies who have a chopper shop found it replace the wiped Cam truck had low miles but a ton of hours on it from idling at the peach farm. The chopper guys put about 2,000 miles on it in their life and then I got it 8 years ago now when I was just getting out of college and I'm 28 now it is in really good shape considering it spend its whole life and Massachusetts where I grew up |

Nice truck! I'd drive the wheels off of it. I know it's got to be fun to drive. I used to have a 327 and a Muncie M22 in my old truck.

Bring it on! I'm on the faaar east side of the metro, and we have a great crew of c10 guys up here. You just missed the c10 Shindig, 450+ trucks here in Independence. We have a big truck party in September in a park in Riverside. Come on and have a beer and some sausages!

Very cool truck. Welcome to Missiouri also.
Love the one year only maroon (red) interior of the ‘69 trucks, especially on a red truck.

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build
Update now that I'm all moved in and set up in the shop and my new job its time to get after the truck this off season in time for spring.
First off. I wounded the 350 in the truck up on the highway a couple of weeks after getting here (wrist pin done) so I'm building a stout little 355 a current point. Starting with forged flat tops 6cc reliefs pistons, h-beams rods, pistons are .020 below deck hight. head studs holding a pair of 416 casting 58cc that have 2.02 /1.60s and fully ported was able to get 178cc. 1.5 comp full roller rockers screw in studs and a solid flat tap 521/521 and 240/250@.050 on a 106lsa compression ratio should be 10.6:1 with appropriate head gasket I have one in mind. Induction will be a eddy c3b dual plane and a 750 double pumper.reworked and refined oiling system with 10qt pan.plus 1 3/4 headers. Got a tremic 5 speed on order and with the 3.73 it should be a good combo. I've picked up some 2" drop spindles with a 2" coils for the front and will be going 4" drop in the back plus adding a sway bar there as well. Plus I will be doing a new full 2.5 exhaust system tucked up in the frame. |

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build
Got the motor back from the machine shop and picked up the cam. I'm wasting no time on reassembly. Got the heads off to the machinist for new valves. They will be on the flow bench latter this week. I got was able to get the 416 casting to 182cc so the should help and with a 58cc chamber after unshrouding and milling heads .010.

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build
The compression specs nice mild street mill. Down a little on compression with the 64 cc heads from the 58cc but the weight reduction will help.

Looks like you have been in your shop for years. Nice job on the quick rebuild. 435 is a killer with speed and stop and go

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build
With the holidays here and a side project brewing. I haven't been able to dedicate a bunch of time to the wrong bed over the last couple of weeks. Back after it now, got the motor almost wrapped up and built a trick little 750 out of some spare parts (looks are deceiving) I had from my race cars. The motor is almost done and its time to collect the rest of the chassis parts prior to braking down the truck to have it done in time for spring.

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build
New motor looks good! I used to have the twin to hardwaa's truck, a long time ago.
