NHRA / IHRA Class. What do you run?

Well it just occurred to me that I may have F'ed up. Well maybe not. Maybe I just went off the deep end after building this 454 and decided to look at what drag racing classes there are actually and where I'd fit in. This never popped into my brain until I decided to build the big block.. no way in hell I'd try and run a 292 L6 for time at the strip.

So I guess what class do you guys run when you go race?

Re: NHRA / IHRA Class. What do you run?

Ok, I'm guessing GT/T_ (A,B,C,D) http://classracer.com/classes.html

Right now I'm trying to figure out the rules for engines. Like, "X" displacement didn't come in a '64 .. But I know a lot of you guys are running a small block in a year other then '66, so how's that work (for my 60-66 counterparts). Maybe more reading for me. Maybe someone will search this later and find something useful out of this.

Re: NHRA / IHRA Class. What do you run?

Your going to find unless you want to chase the class around the country your probably going to be ET racing like 99% of us, not dot.90 or 'stock' class racing.

Most of the monthly / weekly programs ran at tracks are simply ET racers. Get through tech, roll the dice and put number on the window. and hope you cut a liht.

There is a SST and a SG association here in AZ,, but as tracks fall like flies I suspect they will also. Car counts in the AZ SG association was only like 15-20 cars last event I saw them run. (sad)

Re: NHRA / IHRA Class. What do you run?

If you run too fast in one bracket while racing ET, they just move you to the next bracket barring you have all the proper equipment on the car for the next bracket. Most tracks will use the current general safety rules as outlined by the NHRA.

Re: NHRA / IHRA Class. What do you run?

I was involved in Pro Stock , Pro Stock Truck, Comp Eliminator , some Pro Mod . I like the street racing stuff , there is a big following with the heads up drag radial classes now. I would be happy just to make a pass at this point . My project has a long way to go .
