looks great, nice and clean.
don't forget to leave room for some heat shielding in the gas tank and fuel line areas.

Re: 57 Fleetside C4 build

will you use stepped band clamps to hold it all together so it can be taken apart for maintenance or repairs of nearby stuff?

Hi, Yes I have shields to put on the bottom of the bed wood. I am going to try the stepped band clamps to hold it together and like you said if I need to move something or for access. Steve

Re: 57 Fleetside C4 build

Just read the whole thread.
Amazing work in such a “short” time.
You make the conversion to C4 suspension look easy!
Real craftsmanship here!
I also like the two-tone colorcombination, great choice.
Tag along for the rest to come….

Thank You for the comment, I can't take credit for the C4 setup as I bought this at a started project. I finished some of it and did everything else. Steve

Re: 57 Fleetside C4 build

Still plugging away on this project. I put a battery in it to see where I was on everything that has been done electrically so far. Was able to communicate with the PCM and found a couple of codes for the gas pedal which was my fault as I got a couple of the wires crossed when I took the connector apart to get it through the firewall. The second problem is it would not turn over and that was a broken wire in the supplied engine harness so now will turn over. I wired in the Dakota Digital dash which went really well and programmed it. I am going to try and start it soon and see how that goes. Steve

Yes wiring can be trying at times. Luckily I found it pretty fast. I did put some fluids in it today and spun it a little and it fired a little. Must have been some fuel in the fuel rails. Steve

Thanks for the detail pics on the brake cables! I really like your steering wheel… where did you find that and what is it?

The wheel is Billet Specialties Victory 14" D shaped. Steve

Re: 57 Fleetside C4 build

One more quick question on your cables. I couldn't tell from the pics, bit we're you able to run your cables through the original brake line bracketed holes, to run to inside of frame rails? Or are they just running from caliper to cable coupler bracket?

Thanks, Jim

Hi, I used the stock brackets in the stock location of the C4 rear. Steve

Re: 57 Fleetside C4 build

Thanks for the kind words. Made more progress on my project. Put the back bumper on and finished wiring the rear, tailgate hardware and a picture of the current wheels that came with it. What's everyone's opinion on these. they are 15" American Racing Hopsters with 255/70 rear 225/70 front. They kind of fit the truck. My original plan and still may do is a set of 20" wheels and tires. Steve

Re: 57 Fleetside C4 build

Some more progress I made this week. I got the aluminum panel back with carpet on back from the trim shop and installed it, installed the carpet, kick panels, sill plates, and mocked up the panels for the door trim that will get covered in leather and carpet. I also finished the tail pipes. Steating to come together. Steve

Re: 57 Fleetside C4 build

Since you asked for feedback on the wheels, the wheel itself is nice. The 15” size is very dated based on what most of the builds are doing today to fit bigger brakes and go-fast equipment. Everyone has an opinion on what they like or would do differently, so run what you like. Wheel/tire combos can dramatically change the look for you or the next guy.

Very nice work and colors on yours. I’m impressed with the speed at which you are moving. Looking forward to seeing it fully assembled. Don’t forget to put some black vinyl or carpet over that Fat Mat extending above the carpet at the firewall!

Re: 57 Fleetside C4 build

I prefer a wheel in the 17" or 18" range. As you know though, it all depends on the look you are going for. I think they look nice.

Thanks for the input on wheel choice. I will be getting a set of 20's after it is put together, aligned and driving just have to figure out how much rim and tire I can get under the stock rear wheel opening, I had a 18 x 9.5 with 5.5 b.s and a 295/45 which has a section width of 11.7". The tire rubbed the inside wheel house edge but had decent had decent clearance on the outer bedside. I think I can get a 20 x 9.5 with 5.25 b.s. with a 255/45 which has a section width of 10". Just don't want to make a expensive mistake. Steve

Re: 57 Fleetside C4 build

More progress on my project. Got the front sheet metal wet sanded and rubbed. Install the front fenders, lights and grille. Still looking for a glass shop to put the front and rear window in. Have a shop that will do the alignment just have to figure out what specs to use. Steve

Re: 57 Fleetside C4 build

I got the hood back on and aligned so the body is pretty well complete. I did end up getting a set of 20" wheels and nitto tires it will be close but believe they will fit. I have a appointment to have the front and back windows installed and have someone to paint in the tailgate lettering. The big hold up right now is the rest of the interior. The engine cover will be painted the vanilla shake like the roof and a polished LS 6.0 logo for it. Starting to really look like a truck. Steve

Re: 57 Fleetside C4 build

The final punch list has to be getting short. Looks to be time for a plate and the first drive. Those wheels should really finish it off. I like your choice

Thank You the list is getting shorter. Relying on other people now to finish it up. Steve
