How good are the repop fenders? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Looking at going with some repop front fenders as rust free originals will probably be out of the question to find. Is the fitment on par with most repop stuff? I plan on using AMD probably for the source unless someone has other sugggestions

A few years ago when I was looking for fenders I bought a few different brands. I wasn’t impressed by the fit.

The main issue was the piece spot welded in around the headlight. They have large gaps and don’t line up with the grill surround. Not sure if I still have pics, I will check.

The '65 front fender I changed was not "too" bad. It had alignment issues along the top mounts - I removed the inner skin at the top of the fender and welded to the repop. The fit to door leading edge and the front was actually very good considering. The steel felt a little thinner but maybe just because it had no underseal or paint :-)

I used repop on my truck and they required some tweaking. As mentioned, the seam on the front edge of them was sub-par as far as the gap being consistent. I welded that seam up on mine anyways...so, no real harm. The worst part was the lower aft mount on mine. When bolted up it was probably 1/2" inset from the door leading edge. I cut the lower portion of that brace and basically "gapped" it accordingly to get it to sit flush with the door skin. Hope that last sentence makes sense. If I had to do it over again, I would just buy the rear repair section and weld in as needed.

I ended up going with Wes (classicheartbeat) since he had the rest of the parts I need as well. I will update back when I install the repops and let you know how they fit

I was given a pair of fiberglass fenders for whatever reason I don't know but they sure worked OK on my beater truck. I'm not body shop aware enough to know if the fit is bad or good but I do remember having to do a bunch of shimming on the lower portions.

Got a right front Triplus from classic parts, fit fine. All the holes lined up, seemed the same gauge steel. Not restoring a Rolls
